3 Advantages the 2023 Buick Envision Has Over the Nissan Murano
The 2023 Buick Envision is a premium SUV, and SUVs in this category tend to be more expensive than other SUVs, but they make up for it by having a unique look or more features. The Envision is not the only SUV in this category, though, and there are a lot of other great SUVs, such as the Nissan Murano, that car shoppers can choose instead. That said, the 2023 Buick Envision has three advantages over the Nissan Murano, and here’s a look at them.
1. The 2023 Buick Envision is a more affordable SUV
Premium SUVs will cost more than a typical SUV, but there will still be price differences between different premium SUVs. In fact, according to Edmunds, the Buick Envision is a more affordable SUV than the Nissan Murano. The Preferred trim is the starting trim on the Envision, and it starts at just under $32,000. The starting trim on the Murano is the S trim, which starts at just under $34,000.
That’s a price difference of about $2,000. That can be a significant amount of savings in its own right, but car shoppers can also get some savings if they’re looking for a different trim of the car. For example, the mid-level trim that Buick offers with the Envision is called the Essence trim, starting at about $36,000. For the Murano, its next trim is the SV trim, which starts at $37,000.
Folks will continue to see savings all the way up to the top trim that the automakers offer for their SUVs. The Buick’s top trim is the Avenir, starting at about $44,000. The Nissan’s top trim is the Platinum trim, which starts at $45,000.
2. The Envision also gets better fuel economy than the Murano
On top of that, the 2023 Buick Envision will be a much more efficient car than the 2023 Nissan Murano. Both vehicles only have a single engine option, so car shoppers won’t have too much choice there. The Buick SUV is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. This engine allows the Buick to get 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on highways, for 26 mpg combined.
In comparison, the Murano has a 3.5-liter V6 engine that’s mated to a CVT. This setup allows the Murano to get 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on highways, for 23 mpg combined. This means, no matter where you’re driving, the Envision will be at least 3 mpg more efficient than the Murano. This may not seem like a lot, but over a year or two, it can mean a lot of money in terms of gas savings.
3. The Buick Envision gets more torque than the Nissan Murano
Not only is the Buick Envision’s 2.0-liter engine more efficient than the Nissan Murano’s V6, but the Envision can also get more torque. The Envision’s 2.0-liter engine gets 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, while the Murano gets 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque. The Murano’s V6 is more powerful by about 32 hp, but the Envision gets about 18 lb-ft more torque than the Murano.
This ultimately means that, even though the Murano has more horsepower, it’s a slower car in terms of acceleration. The Envision can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds, while it’ll take the Murano about 7.5 seconds. This is mainly because torque matters a lot in terms of acceleration, and the Buick has more torque.
