The minivan segment may be less popular than it was in the past, but automakers still have a lot of great minivan offerings on the market. Here’s a look at the three best minivans for the 2023 model year, according to Kelley Blue Book.

3. Kia Carnival

Kelley Blue Book wrote that the 2023 Kia Carnival is the third-best minivan. That is a good start for the Carnival, as Kia only introduced the minivan last year. As a result, the 2023 version of the Carnival doesn’t have many changes compared to its debut model year. That said, Kia has positioned the Carnival uniquely compared to other minivans. 

The Carnival starts at about $33,000, which makes it one of the most affordable options in the segment. Kia actually refers to the Carnival as an MPV, or multi-purpose vehicle, instead of a minivan. It has a 3.5-liter V6 gets 290 hp, which provides an adequate amount of power to move it around.

Like many other minivans, the Kia has three rows of seats, allowing drivers to carry up to eight passengers comfortably. Powered sliding doors are a standard feature as well, so getting the kids into those seats will be easy. It also has a max cargo capacity of 145 cu-ft, and owners can equip their Kia minivans with various smart features, including an intercom system. 

2. Chrysler Pacifica

The 2023 Chrysler Pacifica has the edge over the Carnival by simply being a far more luxurious minivan. However, that luxury comes at a price as the Pacifica starts at about $37,000, making it one of the most expensive options in the segment. In terms of specs, the Pacifica is similar to the Carnival. Chrysler gave the minivan a 3.6-liter V6 engine, which gets 287 hp.

Like the Carnival and most other minivans, the Pacifica has three rows of seats, allowing drivers to carry up to eight people. The Chrysler’s cargo capacity is slightly less than the Kia’s, as it tops out at 140 cu-ft. The Pacifica’s interior is where Chrysler invested a lot of time and money in, and as Kelley Blue Book wrote, “even base Pacifica models have a premium feel.”

The front seats are heated as standard, as is a 10.1-inch touchscreen display. The Pacifica’s options also allow it to be a step above its competition, as drivers can add all-wheel drive, a rear-seat infotainment system, and an in-cabin camera system that will enable parents to keep an eye on their kids. Chrysler even added an in-car vacuum cleaner that should be useful for many households.

1. Honda Odyssey

However, the best minivan overall is the 2023 Honda Odyssey. It’s slightly more expensive than the Pacifica as it starts at about $37,300. One of the reasons for this price tag is that Honda discontinued the base trim from the prior model year. As a result, the standard 2023 Odyssey comes with many luxury features that were optional in the last model year.

Honda gave the minivan a 3.5-liter V6, and it gets 280 hp. That’s roughly the same as what the Carnival and the Pacifica get from their engines. The Odyssey seats up to eight people, and it has a max cargo capacity of 145 cu-ft. There’s a “generous” amount of standard equipment, including tri-zone automatic climate control and heated front seats. Honda also offers optional features, such as a rear-seat entertainment system, an in-cabin camera system, and an intercom system.
