The F-150 has been around since 1975. Ford has had decades to build these trucks, make improvements, and meet higher emission standards. 

As a result, not every model year is a winner. Some are lemons, so stick to this list of three of the best Ford F-150 years because they have proven their ability to last. 

1. The 2009 Ford F-150 

According to CarComplaints, the 2009 Ford F-150 is a solid model to consider. However, it’s over 10 years old! Despite its age, it has a low amount of complaints and reported problems.  

It has a reliability rating of 81 out of 100 from J.D.Power, which is good. Scores between 70 to 8- are average while scores between 81 and 90 are above average. 

It has fewer mechanical issues than other model years and is expected to last over 300,000 miles with proper care and regular maintenance, 

2. The 2014 Ford F-150 

The 2014 Ford F-150 is officially ten years old, but it’s no slouch. It has less complaints than the 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2015 models. 

According to J.D.Power, it has a reliability score of 83 out of 100, so that’s above average. It was the last model year before the eighth generation was launched, so Ford had plenty of time to correct significant issues.

It only had six recalls, which is good compared to the current storm. It seems like a new F-150 recall launches every day. An average 2014 F-150 model is expected to last between 250,000 to 300,000 miles. 

3. The 2022 Ford F-150 

Another one of the best Ford F-150 years includes options from 2022. Because the 2022 F-150 is more recent, it has modern tech and safety amenities to enjoy without sacrificing its reliability score. 

The 2022 F-150 has a reliability rating of 86 out of 100 from J.D.Power. This is incredibly high for the class. A used model should have years of service to provide. It could make it between 250,000 and 300,000 miles. 

But watch out for the F-150 Hybrid model, it’s known for having battery problems. The F-150 Hybrid brought down its ranking in some cases, but the gas engines are trustworthy workhorses.
