3 of the Best Honda Sedans to Consider When Car Shopping
There has been a rise in SUVs lately, and while automakers like Honda have adapted to the trend, the popular Japanese automaker is still invested in the sedan segment. Honda makes some of the best sedans on the market right now, so here’s a look at the three best Honda sedans that car shoppers should consider.
1. The Honda Civic
The Civic is one of the best Honda sedans and one of the best sedans, according to MotorTrend. The car critic reviewed the 2023 version of the compact car, giving the sedan an overall score of 9.2 out of 10. This made it the best car in the segment. The Civic starts at about $25,000, and like many other great cars, it simply has a few serious issues.
The car critic wrote that the cabin is somewhat noisy and “not particularly quick,” but overall, it’s a solid sedan all-around. The Japanese automaker gave the car a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that gets 158 hp as standard. This engine may not be quick, but it’s fuel efficient as it gets about 34 mpg combined. Plus, Honda offers a lot of optional engines, and they can turn the Civic into a sporty sedan.
On top of that, the Civic has “slick styling,” and it’s also fun to drive. Honda also gave the car a lot of standard smart safety features, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and more.
2. The Honda Accord
The Accord is in the midsize sedan segment, and once again, it’s the best option in its class. MotorTrend reviewed the 2022 version of the car, and it gave the midsize Honda sedan an overall score of 9.2 out of 10. That said, the Japanese auto giant gave the Accord a complete redesign for the 2023 model year, giving it many improvements over the last model year.
A 2023 Accord starts at just over $28,000 and is capable and well-equipped. It starts with a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that gets 192 hp, the same power output as the prior model year. However, Honda tweaked the standard engine so that it’s better for the environment than before. It’s not all upgrades, though. Honda removed the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine option that was available in the 2022 model year.
Many of the upgrades that the automaker gave to the car happened in the interior. The Accord’s standard touch screen is 7 inches, a downgrade from the prior model year’s 8 inches. However, the midsize sedan now comes with a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster, a massive improvement from before. Honda also improved the sedan’s driver assistance features by adding a new forward camera and a new wide-angle radar.
3. The Honda Accord Hybrid
Another great Honda sedan option is just the hybrid version of the Accord. The site doesn’t currently have a review for the 2023 version of the car, but the 2022 version received an overall score of 8.9 out of 10. This made it the best option in the midsize hybrid sedan segment. The hybrid version of the 2023 Accord starts at just over $31,000.
It comes with a brand-new hybrid powertrain similar to the one in the CR-V Hybrid. It’s a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that works with two electric motors to generate 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. This allows the Accord Hybrid to get about 48 mpg combined. On top of that, this version of the sedan starts with a 12.3-inch touchscreen as standard.
