Hyundai is a South Korean automaker that has been around for nearly 50 years. It has grown to become one of the largest automakers in the world, originating as a manufacturer of small cars. However, Hyundai has expanded into many different areas of transportation, including electric vehicles, commercial vehicles, and even autonomous driving technology. 

The Hyundai Motor Group consists of the automobile brands Hyundai, Genesis (Hyundai’s luxury division), Ioniq (a Hyundai sub-brand for Hyundai’s EV lineup), and Kia (in which Hyundai has a majority interest). In this article, we’ll discuss three of the best Hyundai vehicles to consider.

1. 2023 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid

According to the MotorTrend, the number one compact hybrid sedan is the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid. The Elantra has been around since the mid-90s. The hybrid looks nearly identical to its gas-powered cousin. However, the difference is the independent rear suspension as opposed to the standard Elantra’s torsion beam.

Some of the factors that impressed MotorTrend the most were the fuel economy, available tech features, and spacious interior. The Elantra Hybrid will get 53 mpg to 56 mpg with an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen. On the upgraded Limited trim, it has a 10.3-inch display.

The Elantra Hybrid has an MSRP beginning at $24,550. It is also equipped with a 4-cylinder, 1.6-liter engine and an EcoShift 6-speed automatic with manual mode.

2. 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5

The number one pick among electric SUVs was the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5. During its debut last year, it was heralded as one of the most interesting and promising electric SUVs to date. The electric crossover will have a few updates this year that will continue to wow consumers, which include the battery heating system as standard, increased towing capacity, and slightly more range.

The Ioniq 5 has a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs. Although, it’s important to point out that towing will reduce the range. The towing capacity for the 2022 model was only 1,650 lbs. All-wheel drive models also now have 266 miles of range, compared to 256 last year.

Another feature that makes this EV stand out is the short charging time. One issue EVs have is that it takes upwards of an hour to get a full charge with some models. With a 350 kWh charger, the Ioniq 5 long-range all-wheel drive will charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. This feature alone makes it an attractive option to consumers interested in EVs but reluctant due to charging times.

3. 2023 Hyundai Elantra

Coming in at the number two spot in compact sedans is the Hyundai Elantra. With its surprising fuel economy and roomy interior, the Elantra is still a big hit among consumers. Now in its 7th generation, the Elantra has been around since 1992 and has gained popularity among consumers as an affordable sedan.

With an MSRP starting at $20,650, the Elantra is an affordable sedan option in today’s automotive market. Its standard engine is 147 hp, and that’s connected to a CVT automatic and front-wheel drive. It also has an impressive fuel economy of 30 to 33 mpg in the city and 40 to 42 mpg on the highway.

As Hyundai heads into the future, it wants to expand its EV production. Hyundai said in May 2022 that it’s investing $5.5 billion to build an electric car assembly and battery plant near Savannah, Georgia. The project is expected to break ground in early 2023. The company expects a 54% jump in EV sales in 2023 and has said that it wants its U.S. electric car sales to climb by 150% to account for 9% of its U.S. vehicle sales.
