The 3 Best Midsize Sedans of 2021 Won’t Leave You Disappointed
The midsize segment might be a shrinking one, (read: dying) but that doesn’t stop it from having some of the best midsized sedans on sale today in it. However, the sheer versatility offered by cars like the 2021 Honda Accord and 2021 Mazda 6 is hard to overlook. Short of launching yourself up a rocky trailhead, these cars will serve their purpose rain or shine.
Obviously, the title says “3 best” and that’s only two cars so far. Well, maybe I’m saving the best for last, and maybe not.
Is the 2021 Toyota Camry a good car?
Kidding. First up in our little best midsize sedans comparison is the 2021 Toyota Camry. It’s a staple in the midsized sedans segment. So much so, that’ it’s been America’s best-selling sedan for quite some time now. For that, you can thank the Camry’s plentiful options, excellent safety, and solid interior.
However, nothing is perfect, and that goes for the 2021 Toyota Camry too. The infotainment is somewhat lacking in touch response, and you’ve got to put out a little bit more than the car’s $26,000 price tag to get a larger, nicer screen. The same goes for the interior, which is somewhat lacking in the lowest SE trim level.
The 2021 Mazda 6 is the most posh of the best midsized sedans
Thankfully, the 2021 Mazda 6 remedies some of the issues found in the Camry for just a touch more cash. How much more? Car and Driver tested one with a good number of bells and whistles, and the price came out to $34,245. However, the Mazda 6 is missing the AWD grip that the brand is known for. Mazda can still make a great FWD car, like the Mazdaspeed 3, but it’ll be sorely missed.
The interior is another big step up from the Camry. The infotainment is clearly a much, much, newer unit. While both have Android Auto and Apple Carplay, I’m taking the Mazda unit every day. Much like the Toyota, the 2021 Mazda 6 has an excellent IIHS safety rating of five stars, so points there as well.
For now, the 2021 Honda Accord stays on top
That said, it’s hard to beat the 2021 Honda Accord on any other front. The Mazda does, however, have a nicer interior. You can’t blame Honda for that, with a middling Accord starting around $29,000. All in all, the 2021 Honda Accord is a perfect blend of interior comfort and connectivity, practicality, reliability, and just about anything else you can think of. The Camry might be America’s best-selling sedan, but the Accord is America’s best sedan.
