The best new electric SUVs of 2022 include the 2022 Rivian R1S, 2022 Kia EV6, and 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5. While the three electric SUVs have their fair share of differences, they have one similar quality that sets them apart from other models: great range. The Rivian R1S, Kia EV6, and Hyundai Ioniq 5 all include battery options that achieve over 300+ miles of range.

Range is the single most important electric vehicle spec because EVs without decent range just aren’t practical. A perfect example of an EV that failed due to poor range is the Honda Clarity EV. According to Car and Driver, the Honda Clarity EV was discontinued because of its poor range. The Clarity EV only got 89 miles of range.

The three best new electric SUVs of 2022 all have incredible range estimates compared to other EVs for at least one of their trim levels. Since range anxiety is a huge reason why some consumers avoid EVs, these models are a win for the entire industry because they prove that electric vehicles can be practical.
