Toyota is an automaker well-known for its high-quality sedans. Many drivers will choose a Toyota sedan as a starter car. As such, the Japanese company has invested in its sedans and has several options for car shoppers to choose from. Here’s a look at the three best Toyota sedans right now.

1. Toyota Corolla Hybrid

MotorTrend reviewed most of Toyota’s current lineup, and the Corolla Hybrid was the highest-rated sedan of them all. It scored 8.8 out of 10, making it the second-best car in the compact hybrid sedan segment. For comparison, the regular Corolla also did well as it scored 8.2 out of 10, which made it the fourth-best compact sedan.

The Corolla Hybrid starts at just under $23,000, roughly $1,500 more expensive than the normal Corolla. However, that’s a fair price to pay as the hybrid Toyota has a lot of pros and few cons. The Japanese automaker gave it a 121-hp hybrid powertrain, allowing it to get 50 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on highways, for 47 mpg combined. That’s excellent fuel economy for any car.

Toyota also updated the car’s infotainment system to work better than before. It comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, and all-wheel drive is also offered. That said, the car critic wrote that rivals like the Hyundai Elantra have a bigger touchscreen, and the Corolla Hybrid “could be more spacious.” 

2. Toyota Avalon

This full-size sedan from Toyota received an overall score of 8.7 out of 10, making it the best option in its segment. Unfortunately, the 2022 model year of the car was its last, as the Japanese auto giant discontinued the Avalon after that model year. Regardless, the Avalon was a great full-size car that started at about $37,000.

The car came with a 3.5-liter V6 that got 301 hp, and drivers could swap that out for a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain that got 215 hp. The standard V6 engine was powerful as it allowed the large sedan to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 6 seconds. It also had a decent fuel economy of about 27 mpg combined. The hybrid version, meanwhile, got about 44 mpg combined.

The best part about the Avalon was its interior. It was spacious, and it came with a lot of standard features. It started with a 9-inch touchscreen, and the trunk measured at 16.1 cu-ft. That’s a large trunk compared to what its rivals offered.

3. Toyota Camry Hybrid

The Camry Hybrid is another great Toyota sedan, and it received a score of 8.6 out of 10. This made it the third-best midsize hybrid sedan. For comparison, the regular Camry had a score of 7.9 out of 10, that made it the fifth-best midsize sedan. The Camry Hybrid starts at about $28,000, making it roughly $2,000 more expensive than the normal version.

It comes with a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain that gets 208 hp. This powertrain allows the hybrid car to get 51 mpg in the city and 53 mpg on highways, for 52 mpg combined. That’s a much better fuel economy than its rivals. It starts with a 7-inch touch screen, and like many other Toyotas, it has a long list of smart safety features. That said, it’s not as fast as its rivals and doesn’t handle as well as they do.
