The Toyota Tacoma was introduced in 1995 and has stuck around as a popular option for both work and play. 

Other trucks like the Ford Ranger and Chevrolet Colorado were discontinued due to decreasing sales, but the Tacoma stuck around as a serious contender. Check out a few of the best Toyota Tacoma years. 

1. 2006 Toyota Tacoma 

The 2006 Toyota Tacoma is an excellent model year to consider. It managed to escape the plague of model years from 2005 and earlier that crumpled due to rust. 

Some models are still being sold at over $7,000 because it’s a trusted year. The 2006 Tacoma is expected to last over 350,000 miles. The V6 engine is more fun than the four-cylinder one, but both are fun. 

It might be hard to track down the maintenance history for a model this old, but it only suffers from minor paint and loud wheel bearings. 

2. 2015 Toyota Tacoma 

Another excellent year includes the 2015 Tacoma. The inline-four and V6 engines are known for being reliable powertrain options that are easy to work on. 

According to J.D.Power, it has a reliability rating of 85 out of 100, which is great. Scores between 70 and 80 are average while scores between 81 and 90 are above average.

An average 2025 Tacoma truck is expected to last between 300,000 to 350,000 miles. But there are some examples that have surpassed 400,000 miles. 

This model year does have four recalls, but they are related to minor issues such as having incorrect labels. 

3. 2019 Toyota Tacoma 

One of the most recent best Toyota Tacoma years comes from 2019. It has more modern tech and advanced safety features, plus it’s very reliable. 

According to U.S.News, it has a reliability rating of four out of five stars and the average model is expected to surpass 300,000 miles. 

The 2019 Tacoma has four recalls. The most serious one includes the fuel pump, but previous owners should have already had the pumps replaced at no cost. Other recalls are related to the brake master cylinder seal and incorrect labeling.
