If you’re on the hunt for a cheap SUV in 2023, I can’t blame you. Some SUVs come with extremely high price tags. Fortunately, there are some manufacturers out there that still make vehicles that can be called affordable, and that’s a good thing. And thanks to MotorTrend, we can easily identify the three cheapest SUVs for 2023.
Are there any good cheapest SUV models in 2023?
In 2023, there are actually some good cheap SUVs to consider. These models will not get you the latest and greatest features, but they are affordable. And that makes them ideal for someone who wants a new SUV but is on a budget.
When I tested the 2022 Lexus LX600, I found it to be mind-blowingly impressive. But it also has an MSRP of over $85,000. The three SUVs on this list can be found for around $25k, which is much more palatable.
3. 2023 Nissan Kicks
The new Nissan Kicks has a starting cost of $21,585. And that price makes it a fairly affordable SUV. It’s not really the most exciting vehicle on the road, but it should be able to get you from A to B.
It also comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, nice features to have on an SUV at the price point. The interior is roomy, which means more space for cargo and passengers.
2. 2023 Kia Soul
The Kia Soul has long been a boxy cheap SUV with unique styling. While it is still cheap, according to MotorTrend, it did get a price increase in 2022. The Soul now costs over $20k, but it does come with a lot of standard features. Its boxy design means that the interior is highly configurable as well.
Worth noting is the fact that being a box does mean making some sacrifices in terms of aerodynamics. I have not had the chance to drive the new Kia Soul, but the old Souls I’ve been in did feel a little bit uncomfortable with things like highway driving.

The Venue is the cheapest SUV for 2023. It is only available with front-wheel drive, and it’s not as big as some of the other small SUVs out there. But its MSRP of $20,125 means it can fit into most budgets without having to break the bank.
Even though it is the cheapest SUV, you still get some attractive standard features. Those include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with an 8.0-inch touchscreen. According to Car and Driver, the 2022 Hyundai Venue also comes with good safety tech. Standard safety features on this SUV include:

- Lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist
- Driver-attention monitor
Sure, the Hyundai Venue might not be the nicest SUV on the market, but it is the cheapest. And for certain consumers, that is a key thing to be. Another perk of the Venue is that it comes with Hyundai’s warranty, which is one of the best in the industry.
