There aren’t that many muscle cars on the market these days, but the big names are still around, such as the Dodge Charger. The Charger is a very popular muscle car option right now, but it’s not for everyone, and Ford fans may end up going with the Ford Mustang instead. If car shoppers don’t want to buy a Dodge Charger or a Ford Mustang though, then there are alternatives, and here’s a look at three muscle car options that aren’t the Charger or the Mustang.

1. Chevy Camaro

As muscle car enthusiasts may know, the big three brands when it comes to muscle cars are Chevy, Dodge, and Ford. As such, the Chevy Camaro is a good Dodge Charger alternative for folks who want a muscle car.

According to Edmunds, the Camaro is one of the more affordable muscle car options, as it starts at about $25,000. For comparison, the Charger starts at about $32,500, which makes it over $7,000 more expensive than the Camaro.

The Camaro is on the smaller side though, as it seats four, while the Charger seats five. Similarly, the Camaro doesn’t have much cargo space, as it has 9.1 cu. ft. in the trunk. The Charger, meanwhile, has 16.5 cu. ft. of cargo space. The main reason why car shoppers buy muscle cars is because of their power, and naturally, both have some options when it comes to this department.

The Camaro starts with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder, and it gets 275 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The Charger, meanwhile, starts with a 3.6-liter V6, and it gets 292 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.

The most powerful engine option that Dodge offers is the Hellcat engine, and it’s a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that gets 797 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque. The Camaro’s most powerful engine is weaker, as it’s a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that gets 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque.

2. Chrysler 300

Chrysler is discontinuing the 300 soon, but it’s still a strong option right now. It starts at about $33,500, and it seats five people. The 300 has 16.3 cu. ft. of trunk space, which is almost the same as what the Charger has. Chrysler gave the car the same V6 engine that the Charger starts with, so their standard engine specs are the same.

That being said, to celebrate the 300’s last days, Chrysler is releasing the 300C, which is an even more powerful version of the car. It gets a 6.4-liter V8 engine, and it gets 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. Since Chrysler is owned by Stellantis, the company that also owns Dodge, that same V8 engine is also available on the Charger. 

3. Dodge Challenger

Another great muscle car alternative is the Challenger, which is similar to the Charger in many ways, but different in others. The Challenger is a smaller car than the Charger, so it will be more affordable to start with.

The Challenger starts at about $30,500, which makes it about $2,000 cheaper than its bigger sibling. That being said, both Dodge muscle cars are similar in terms of their cargo capabilities, as both can seat five people.

The Challenger has 16.2 cu. ft. of cargo space, and that’s only 0.3 cu. ft. less than what the Charger has. Under the hood, the Challenger starts with a 3.6-liter V6 that gets 303 hp and 268 lb-ft of torque. Dodge also gave the Challenger a more powerful Hellcat engine, as its Hellcat engine can get 807 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque, which is more power than the Charger’s Hellcat engine.
