If you’re in the market for a new SUV, then the Honda CR-V and Ford Bronco Sport are two excellent options to consider. The 2022 Ford Bronco Sport is new, rugged, and capable, so it’s getting tons of attention. However, the 2022 Honda CR-V has a few advantages you need to know about. 

2022 Honda CR-V vs. 2022 Ford Bronco Sport 

We know that the 2022 Honda CR-V isn’t the best option for off-roading. The 2022 Ford Bronco sport can take you further down the trails. However, you probably won’t be off-roading daily, and the CR-V has advantages for road trips and everyday commuting. 

First, let’s see some prices. The Honda HR-V starts at $26,800, and the top-spec touring trim brings the cost up to $36,600. 

The Ford Bronco Sport begins at $28,815, and the top-of-the-line Badlands model raises the price to $36,590. 

1. The CR-V has more space 

The 2022 Honda CR-V has 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear with up to 75.8 cubes total. The seats fold flat to create a level loading floor. Plus, it has plenty of storage for personal items. You’ll find that the center console and glove box are massive.

With the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport, you get 32.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and up to 65.2 cubic feet. The seats also fold flat, and there are plenty of storage cubbies. But the doors have narrow openings, making it complicated to load bulky items. 

Plus, the CR-V has more passenger space in the first and second rows, making it more comfortable for adults. Edmunds shared that the rear seat in the Bronco Sport is a little tight. 

2. The CR-V is more comfortable 

The 2022 Honda CR-V has a smooth ride and a quiet interior. The front seats are well-padded and supportive, while the rear seat provides a nice recline angle. The handling is precise, and body roll is limited. 

Like other vehicles designed for off-roading, the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport doesn’t have the best performance on the pavement. It’s a little bumpy, and wind noise enters the cabin at higher speeds. Plus, the transmission can be jerky. 

Edmunds also mentioned that the seats don’t have much adjustment and lack lateral support. The Bronco Sport isn’t offered with dual-zone climate control either. 

3. The CR-V is better on gas 

The 2022 Honda CR-V gets an EPA-estimated 28 mpg in the city and up to 34 mpg on the highway, which is impressive. Adding AWD reduces these figures to about 27 and 33 mpg. 

The 2022 Ford Bronco Sport gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city and up to 28 mpg on the highway. These figures aren’t bad, just lacking compared to the CR-V. 

We aren’t saying the Honda CR-V is better than the Ford Bronco Sport. It just has a few advantages for daily driving. 

The Bronco Sport can tow up to 2,220 lbs while the CR-V maxes out at 1,500 lbs. Also, the Bronco Sport is much better equipped for tackling the wild with more off-roading modes and gear. 

But the CR-V has a more comfortable ride, more space for passengers and cargo, and can help you save at the pump.
