To gather this list of truck fails, we are looking at TheThings.com. They put together a list of the best and worst trucks from each manufacturer in 2020. Just because a truck is listed as a failure doesn’t mean it’s bad. The manufacturers could have just done a little better with them for 2020. 

Also, we will provide other options to see what negative qualities each of these trucks have. We don’t want to be biased. While one fan loves the Ford Ranger, another driver may dislike it for different reasons. 

1. The 2020 Chevy Colorado

The 2020 Chevy Colorado is listed as the biggest truck fail from Chevrolet. TheThings mentioned that it needed more time to be worked on and that it seems weak due to its overall structure. 

What? The Colorado has a weak structure? According to IIHS, the Colorado has an Acceptable rating for its structure during crash tests, but only for the small overlap on the front passenger side. This is the second-highest rating it can get, so it’s like a B instead of an A. 

One of the positive things Edmunds noted about the Colorado is that it has a higher towing capacity than rivals, so it’s not exactly weak. The Colorado can tow up to 7,000 lb, while the Toyota Tacoma can only tow up to 6,800 lb.

So why is the Colorado really considered to be a truck fail? Its negatives include that the front seats can feel small, rivals offer more in-cab storage, and a low-hanging front air dam limits off-roading potential. 

According to The Car Connection, the 2020 Chevy Colorado has a dated interior. they say that regardless of the trim level, the interior is boring and filled with cheap plastics. Plus, it’s not exactly comfortable with narrow seats and limited legroom.

2. The 2020 Ford Ranger 

The Ford Ranger was listed as one of the truck fails due to its disappointing looks. This is pretty subjective. Some people may like the way it looks. Others may hate the curvy look that can seem similar to the way the Honda Ridgeline looks. TheThings also mentioned that the Ford Ranger is prone to brake and suspension problems. 

We couldn’t find these issues reported on the 2020 model year. Perhaps they were disappointed when the suspension because, as Car and Driver notes, the Ranger only has moderate off-roading abilities. 

Positives for the 2020 Ford Ranger include its turbocharged engine and a long list of standard driver-assistance technology. Negatives include its boring and dated interior, bumpy, rough ride, and noisy cabin. 

3. The 2020 Nissan Frontier 

The 2020 Nissan Frontier is also listed as one of the truck fails. The Things mentioned that its power is underwhelming, and it’s structured in a poor manner. They also said it may not last long. We disagree, and they didn’t list any sources to back this info up. 

The Frontier has a score of three out of five for its predicted reliability rating. It’s also had the same structure for years, which has held up fine. According to Edmunds, the new 3.8-liter V8 engine packs plenty of punch, so the power isn’t underwhelming. 

However, the 2020 Nissan Frontier did receive negative feedback for having uncomfortable rear seats with limited leg space. Plus, the interior materials look and feel cheap, and the fuel economy lags behind rivals.
