Ford makes a lot of well-rounded vehicles that are fun to drive, and most of them are available at very affordable prices. For example, you can get a new Ford Mustang for less than $30,000: something can’t be said about many sports cars. The compact Maverick pickup is currently the cheapest in its segment by a few thousand dollars.

Of course, even the higher trims of these cars can get quite pricey with enough options added. If the model in question is already expensive, you might end up paying almost $100,000 for one. Let’s go over Ford’s most expensive cars for 2023.

1. 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning

According to U.S. News, a new Ford F-150 Lightning can cost anywhere between $55,974-$96,874. Its standard powertrain includes two electric motors and a battery pack with a standard range of 240 miles. The base dual-motor setup is capable of 462 hp and 775 lb-ft of torque. 

Opting for an extended-range battery allows the Ford F-150 Lightning to generate 118 extra ponies and the same impressive torque output. Ford also claims that the biggest battery will get your truck moving to 60 mph in under four seconds. This battery gets up to 320 miles of range.

With the Max Trailering package and the bigger battery, the F-150 Lightning can tow up to 10,000 lbs on almost every trim. Without any upgrades, extended-range models can tow 7,700 lbs. The F-150 Lightning’s base towing capacity stands at 5,000 lbs.

There’s only one cargo box available (measuring 5-ft-5-in) and it can hold up to 2,235 lbs worth of items. The solitary Crew Cab option features generous legroom and a 12-in touchscreen as its centerpiece. All Lightning pickups come equipped with wireless smartphone integration, navigation, and voice recognition.

2. 2023 Ford Expedition

The Ford Expedition XL STX currently starts at $55,125 and the top-tier Platinum retails for a suggested $80,565. Each one comes with a twin-turbo V6 that can make up to 440 hp depending on your trim selection. It’s paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission that typically garners no complaints from critics.

However, some automotive critics complained about the Expedition’s unexciting steering and worrying body roll. Most reported that the Expedition’s ride is still smooth, so you can seat up to eight passengers without worrying about comfort loss. The Expeditions comes standard with two rows of seating, and the optional third row is spacious enough for adult passengers.

Behind the second row, the Ford Expedition offers over 63 cubic ft of cargo space. If you buy a three-row Ford Expedition Max, you’ll get over 79 cubic ft of storage with the second row folded down. The Ford Expedition Max also has a competitive cargo capacity with each seat in use, up to 36 cubic ft.

3. 2023 Ford Explorer Hybrid

The Explorer’s hybrid powertrain is an optional feature for the Limited and Platinum trims, with the former retailing for $53,005. Both come equipped with a V6 engine and a singular electric motor generating 318 hp combined. 

Each V6 is paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission and can be optioned with all-wheel-drive. The front-wheel-drive models return slightly disappointing gas mileage, only 27/28 mpg city/highway. Despite that, U.S. News praises the Explorer Hybrid for its ride quality and quick steering.

The Ford Explorer Hybrid Platinum is just $815 more and adds better interior materials like perforated leather seats. You also get some extra safety features and an upgraded Bang and Olufsen stereo system. It still won’t be the most efficient hybrid because it’s only available with AWD, but at least you’ll be riding in style.
