3 of the Most Expensive Pickup Trucks in 2023
New trucks seem only to be climbing in price. With some pickups coming with an MSRP of over six figures. And that means if you want a modern pickup truck, you’re going to need to budget. Especially if you are planning to get something that comes with all of the bells and whistles. These three trucks, from mainstream manufacturers, might be the most expensive for 2023.
Why are trucks so expensive?
Simply put, trucks are so expensive because they can be. Manufacturers often see pretty big profit margins for these vehicles, as do dealerships. But brands also put a serious amount of cash and resources into building the best truck.
Trucks are also massive and luxurious vehicles in 2023. Long gone of the days when most folks getting a pickup were looking for a simple work vehicle. Now, we expect heated seats, Apple CarPlay, and 360-degree cameras. Adding stuff like that to a truck is not cheap.
3. 2023 Ram 1500
The Ram 1500 has long been a popular full-size truck. But, with a starting MSRP of nearly $40k, it is also more expensive than some of the other options out there. Cost does not end there, though; for the top-trim Ram 1500 Limited, things can get pretty pricey. But most consumers will likely stick to the Big Horn or Laramie trims.
This pickup truck does not come without its perks, though. According to Car and Driver, certain trims come with a lavish interior. And the overall ride quality is comfortable; you might forget you’re driving a half-ton truck at some points.
2. 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning
Now, the Ford Lightning has been facing some issues. In the past few days, it turns out that the Blue Oval is struggling with the quality of the batteries that are used in this electric truck. Still, the F-150 EV is anything but cheap. The most basic model starts at $55,974.
Of course, because of the demand for the F-150 Lightning, you probably won’t be paying MSRP if you’re lucky enough to find one. You can no longer order one from Ford, and it looks like dealerships that receive allocation are not afraid to tack on some markups.
1. 2022 GMC Hummer EV
I might be cheating here, but one of the most expensive trucks for 2023 is the Hummer EV. You get serious capability and the legendary Hummer nameplate, but you are going to be paying an eye-watering price tag for that. Just how much does it cost? Well, the Hummer EV commands a price of over $100,000.
On the other end of the spectrum, the new Ford Maverick still sits right around the $22,000 mark. Now, I’m not going to draw a direct comparison between these two trucks. But, it does show there is quite a spectrum in the modern market.
