The seventh generation of the Ford Mustang recently made its debut, and it comes with a lot of interesting new features. Its new body style is edgy and refined, the interior is more futuristic than before, and the engine choices have been revised. There’s plenty to talk about when it comes to the 2024 Mustang, but there are three features that we find the most interesting.

1. Get sideways with the Drift Brake

The Ford Mustang is no stranger to drifting as professionals like Vaughn Gitten Jr. use one during his events. So it’s only fitting that the all-new Mustang is fitted with an “Electronic Drift Brake.” Yes, it looks just like the handbrake that you can find in older cars, but it doesn’t operate like one.

Offered as part of the car’s Performance Package, the Drift Brake does not stay up when it’s engaged (like a traditional hand brake). That way, the driver can control it more when getting sideways. It also delivers four to five times more brake force when pulled, which further helps initiate a slide. Fortunately, experience need not apply as Ford says there are two settings – one for novices and another for professional drivers.

2. The Remote Rev feature will make your neighbors love you

The new Mustang has a cool party trick that can be activated straight from its key fob. There’s a Remote Rev feature that revs the engine with the push of a button. That’s right; you can easily show off your car’s horsepower and exhaust note without even having to sit in the car.

Fortunately, it only holds the revs for a second, so you don’t have to worry about bouncing the engine off the rev limiter. But still, we’re sure your neighbors will love you.

3. The next-gen EcoBoost and Coyote engines have more power

Speaking of the 2024 Mustang’s engines, the turbocharged EcoBoost 2.3-liter four-cylinder and Coyote V8 engines remain. However, they have both been spruced up for the new model year. The 5.0-liter V8 engine will have dual 80mm throttle bodies, and the turbo engine will be tweaked as well.

Ford has not released the power numbers for either engine yet, but we’re sure they’ll be impressive. Both engines will come with a 10-speed automatic transmission, but the V8 will have the option of a six-speed manual.

Favorite 2024 Ford Mustang features

While the all-new 2024 Ford Mustang has a ton of new features and design elements to talk about, these three are our favorite of the bunch. There’s almost nothing better than a rear-drive muscle car that’s a drift and rev machine right out of the box. It also has many other tech-savvy features to note, like the dual-screen setup in the cockpit and the racing seats that hold you tight when drifting around a corner.

Overall, we’re impressed with what the new Mustang has to offer, and we’re sure it will be a blast when we can finally drive it. For now, we’ll just lust over the pictures that Ford gave us and wonder how much power it will put out.
