The 2023 Kia Telluride’s digital key is a real winner

Of course, every new vehicle comes with a few sets of keys for multiple owners, this has been a standard expectation in the automotive industry for years now. The Kia Telluride has a solution that is not only cheaper for Kia to produce but unbelievably convenient for households with multiple drivers; the digital key.

Kia explains that their digital key, which is available on Telluride SX trim level and higher, is a key that is housed in your smartphone’s digital wallet. With this digital key, the same phone you use for ApplePay can now be used to start your Telluride.

This allows keys to be shared throughout a household of drivers, and there is no worry about losing an expensive key fob. You will never be locked out of your car as long as you have your phone.

The Kia Telluride’s full-display rearview mirror

In 2023, backup cameras are nothing new in the automotive industry. In fact, rear-view cameras have been required in all new vehicles by U.S. law starting in May 2018.

However, despite these rear view cameras being implemented, not much progress has been seen on rear view mirror design until just recently. The Kia Telluride’s optional full-display digital rearview mirror changes everything regarding rearview mirror capabilities.

In a typical car, a rearview mirror doesn’t do much other than reflect what is going on behind you. Some vehicles have garage door openers implemented into the design, and other vehicles have multimedia capabilities built-in, like with General Motors’ OnStar system.

The Kia Telluride’s full-display digital rearview mirror live streams a display of what is going on behind your car at all times. This means no glare from the sun, no adjusting your mirrors, and a field of view that is much better than any mirror on the market today.

Don’t like a live feed of what is going on behind you? No problem, simply turn off the display and your mirror reverts to a traditional mirror.

Multiple charging ports mean devices are always charged

In modern vehicles, it is not uncommon for multiple USB charging ports to be found throughout the cabin. We live in an era of smartphone connectivity where a full battery is almost always essential. Kia takes this to the next level, however, by offering six fast-charging USB-C ports throughout the cabin of the Telluride. Because the Telluride is a three-row SUV, this means there are two fast charging ports for every row.

These fast charging ports don’t even include the optional wireless charging pad found on the Telluride, which means even more devices can be charged at once. With so many ways to charge your devices, you will never go without a fully charged battery in a Kia Telluride.
