2023 Lexus NX 350 pros and cons

Yes, there are a lot of 2023 Lexus NX 350 features that make it worth buying. For example, it’s comfortable, athletic, and convenient. But it does fall short in a few areas, such as tech and cargo space. 

However, the NX 350 stands out from other models in the lineup because it could be the best-looking option. When we drive other Lexus models, people love to comment on how massive the grille is. 

This wasn’t the case with the NX 350. Spectators and passengers simply mentioned that it looks good, giving it an edge over the RX, UX, and GX. 

1. PRO: The 2023 Lexus RX 350 is fun 

It’s hard not to smile when pressing the pedal to metal in the 2023 Lexus NX 350. The standard 2.4-iter four-cylinder engine cranks out 275 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds. 

We had the Lexus NX 350 F Sport, so it has an upgraded active variable suspension with two extra driving modes and front/rear performance dampers to turn up the heat. It minimizes body roll while cornering for more confident maneuvers. It has smooth transmission shifts and confident brakes. 

The aluminum pedal covers, extra seat bolstering, and blacked-out trim add racing vibes as the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters enhance control. But if you’re in the mood to relax and cruise, the Normal Mode is excellent for taking it easier. 

2. PRO: The Lexus RX 350 is comfortable 

The 2023 Lexus RX 350 provides luxury comfort with supportive, well-padded front seats. It has a smooth ride while providing a sense of the road conditions. Rough patches of pavement are quickly dampened. 

Also, the RX 350 has the strongest ventilated seats we’ve had the opportunity to test in a long time. The climate control system works quickly to keep everyone comfortable without the need for adjustments. 

The rear seats are just as comfortable, with a relaxed incline level. However, it’s a bit tight. Shorter adults can fit back there without any issues, but the front seats should be reserved for taller folks. 

3. PRO: The NX 350 is affordable 

The 2023 Lexus NX 350 starts with an MSRP of $42,365, and the top-spec NX 350 F Sport Handling model increases the price to $48,615. So, the most luxurious option with performance upgrades starts for under $50,000. 

Plus, you don’t have to upgrade to higher trim levels for premium style and comfort. Standard features include 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, power-adjustable/heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. 

You also get a 9.8-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a 10-speaker audio system, and all-wheel drive. 

Standard safety features include forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, intersection turn assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, rear-cross traffic alert, and automatic high beams. 

1. CON: The Lexus NX 350 is loud 

For a luxury vehicle, the 2023 Lexus NX 350 has a ton of wind and road noise at highway speeds. It sounds just as loud as the Toyota Prius. We aren’t knocking the Prius, but it’s an affordable vehicle instead of a luxury one. 

Perhaps the larger wheels of the F Sport model contribute to increased noise inside the cabin. You may need to raise your voice to carry a conversation. But on a positive note, the audio system easily covers the commotion. 

2. CON: The 2023 NX 350 could have better tech 

While the 14.0-inch digital guage cluster, infotainment screen, head-up display, and 360-degree camera look great with a high resolution and attractive graphics, the systems can be frustrating. There is a severe lack of physical controls. 

You have to rely on the touchscreen for simple tasks such as tuning the radio. The menus could be more intuitive. It seems like you have to tap through extra menus, which can be distracting. Also, the wireless phone pad doesn’t hold devices in place. 

Your phone may slide around, and it has to be in exactly the right place to charge. Connecting to wireless Apple CarPlay was a whole process, and the wireless connectivity randomly cuts out or can’t connect. The vehicle suggests using a cord instead, which limits freedom. 

Last but not least, the safety systems are sensitive. Be prepared for loud, surprising beeps in every day, safe situations. 

The parking sensors go off in drive-through lanes, the cross-traffic alert system blares at stop lights, and parallel parking makes the SUV sing the song of its people.
