If you’re looking for a hybrid and a car that’s been around for decades, the 2022 Toyota Camry might be on your radar. The reliable midsize sedan hybrid has low emissions and excellent gas mileage, making it an attractive car. Here are three pros and cons of the hybrid vehicle.

Pro 1: Trunk Space

The hybrid offers 15.1 cu-ft of trunk space, the same amount you find in a non-hybrid Camry. You can also fold the rear seats to make room for more items, and the vehicle seats five people. In other cars, the hybrid battery often takes up some cargo space, but that’s not the case in the 2022 Toyota Camry.

Con 1: No All-Wheel Drive

Fans of the all-wheel drive will be disappointed with this hybrid as it doesn’t have an all-wheel drive option. All-wheel drive provides superior traction and enhanced safety on icy and wet roads, but the front-wheel drive isn’t without its positives. A front-wheel drive vehicle gets better fuel economy, still maintains good traction as the engine is located over the driving wheels, and the vehicle emits less carbon dioxide.

Pro 2: Performance

As a midsize hybrid sedan, the hybrid Toyota performs well for day-to-day use. It can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in eight seconds, which Edmunds states is slightly better than average for a hybrid midsize sedan. It has predictable braking, decent steering and handling, and rolling-resistant tires—the perfect car for commuting to and from work or for running errands.

Con 2: Grabby Brakes

While it does have a braking ability you can depend upon, the brakes are a little grabby, making it somewhat difficult to stop smoothly. Grabby brakes mean that there’s an overly sensitive braking system where they react strongly as soon as you touch the brake pedal.

Pro 3: Comfort

According to Kelley Blue Book, the Camry hybrid lets you quickly find your ideal driving position. The interior surfaces are soft to the touch, but the lower trims have some harder plastic, while the XLE and the XSE trims have genuine leather upholstery and wood interior inlays. The dual-zone automatic climate control is an excellent feature, as the driver and the front passenger has their own HVAC settings.

Con 3: Low Resolution

According to U.S. News, one of the main complaints is that the hybrid’s touchscreen infotainment system, Entune 3.0, has a poor resolution on the larger screen, resulting in everything appearing pixelated.

Despite the drawbacks of low screen resolution, grabby brakes, and no option for all-wheel drive, the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid is an excellent car. It offers excellent gas mileage, a comfortable ride, and plenty of cargo space. If you’re just looking for a commuting car, this is the car to put on the list.
