For evaluating noise ratings on full-size pickup truck models, Consumer Reports awarded scores based on “expert judgment of the vehicle’s interior noise level in everyday driving.” According to Wheel, CR only provided three models with a perfect score. For the 2022 model year, that includes the Ford F-150, Ram 1500, and Ram 1500 Classic.
However, something to keep in mind about these noise evaluations is the emergence of upcoming electric pickup trucks. That includes the likes of the Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, and electric versions of the Ram 1500 and Chevy Silverado. Electric vehicles are typically much quieter than gas-powered vehicles, so it’s hard to go wrong with EVs if interior noise is a significant concern for your driving comfort.

During testing, the 2022 Ford F-150 produced a slight engine-humming noise, but nothing to a volume that would be an annoyance to most drivers. The 2022 Ram 1500 has one of the highest-quality interiors of its class, which helps aid in its noise reduction from exterior forces. Along with a plush interior of spacious and comfortable seating, the Ram 1500’s noise cancellation system does its job admirably. Ambient noise is heavily reduced, allowing for a calm driving experience for drivers and passengers.
Lastly, most truck enthusiasts might assume the 2022 Ram 1500 Classic would be one of the worst of its class in most categories due to its aging design and more affordable price. However, while it may lack more modern features, its cabin build is solid and reliable. The 1500 Classic isn’t as reliable and high-tech as the contemporary Ram 1500, but it shares its sibling’s ability to block exterior noise.
