The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is the most capable Bronco model. The small SUV boasts amazing power and off-roading specs. Unfortunately, the Bronco Raptor is much more expensive than the average consumer can afford. Here are three reasons that the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is a hard pass.

The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor costs more than a Ford F-150 Raptor

The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor costs more than the Ford F-150 Raptor despite being much smaller. According to Car and Driver, the 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor starts at $67,070. The Bronco Raptor starts at a whopping $69,995.

While the Bronco is a highly sought-after SUV, it’s hard to come to terms with the fact that its Raptor model is more expensive than an F-150 Raptor model. The F-150 Raptor makes 50 more horses than the 400 horsepower Bronco Raptor model.

The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor isn’t that different from other Bronco models

The Ford Bronco’s appeal is its off-roading prowess. While the Blue Oval offers several different degrees of capability through different trims, the Bronco Wildtrak with Ford’s Sasquatch Package isn’t much less capable than the Bronco Raptor.

The Bronco Wildtrak with the Sasquatch Package comes with 35-inch tires, Bilstein shocks, and front and rear locking differentials. The Bronco Raptor has 37-inch wheels and a different suspension than the Bronco Wildtrak. The Wildtrak starts at $49,475. It uses a 2.7-liter V6 engine to make 315 horsepower.

The Bronco Raptor costs $20,520 more than the Bronco Wildtrak. Does the newer model really warrant a price difference of $20K?

The average American has no use for the Bronco Raptor

The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor isn’t for everyone. It’s a small off-road SUV that thrives in harsh environments. Most Americans don’t need an SUV that can crawl rocks or tackle rough trails. Thus, the Bronco Raptor is a hard pass for anyone that can’t spare almost $70K.

Many Americans are partaking in off-roading adventures, but the Bronco Raptor is far too extreme for the casual adventurer. Ford’s ad puts professional desert racer Shelby Hall behind the wheel of the Bronco Raptor. Shelby tears up the desert in the video, but how many Americans are purchasing new SUVs to go off-roading in the desert, especially in the context of a global pandemic?

The Ford Bronco Raptor is a hard pass for most consumers because they simply don’t need an off-road vehicle with extreme off-road capability. The new off-roading beast will surely provide a good time for the few consumers that can afford one. The rest of Bronco fans will try their hands at getting a more practical daily driver Bronco trim (which is nearly as difficult to buy thanks to high demand).
