As an electric SUV, there’s a lot to love about the 2022 Kia EV6. This EV crossover is part of Kia’s commitment to electrify its portfolio, and it looks like the brand is receiving quite a bit of praise for its efforts. The new EV6 is available in five distinct trim levels, one of which is known as the Wind trim. The 2022 Kia EV6 Wind brings more to the table than the Light model, but why should you consider it?

The 2022 Kia EV6 Wind offers all-wheel drive

In terms of the EV SUV segment, AWD is a popular feature to have. This system delivers power to all four wheels, allowing you to handle things like inclement weather. So, if you want an AWD SUV, you should skip the 2022 Kia EV6 Light and opt for the EV6 Wind.

Using a dual-motor setup, the AWD version of the Kia EV6 Wind also offers more horsepower. Coming with 320 hp and 446 pound-foot of torque. But, it is worth noting that this electric SUV will lose out on some range. The rear-wheel drive EV6 Wind offers up to 310 miles of electric range. If you get AWD, that will be reduced to 274 miles, which is still a usable number.

The Kia EV6 Wind offers premium features

In terms of what features come with the 2022 Kia EV6 Wind, the list is pretty good. It offers vegan leather seating materials, which will certainly be an upgrade over the base model.

Also notable are options like ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

This electric SUV also has available safety tech, which should improve driver confidence. Optional safety equipment includes things like:

  • Surround view monitor
  • Blind-spot view monitor
  • Parking collision-avoidance assist-reverse
  • Remote smart parking assist

The remote smart parking assist might be the coolest available on this list. Although it is somewhat of a party trick, it will allow you to park your EV without being inside of it. This is done through buttons on the key fob.

This electric SUV has an onboard power generator

One neat feature of the Kia EV6 Wind is its onboard power generation. This will allow you to charge various devices and even appliances if you need to. If you’re wondering if an EV can be good for camping, features like this prove that they can be. You’ll be able to deliver power to your campsite, allowing you to keep the party going.

A downside of the 2022 Kia EV6 might be its pricing. It’s worth noting that for the Wind model with RWD, you will be paying a starting MSRP of $47,500. And that is before options. According to Kelly Blue Book, it also has less cargo space than EVs like the Mustang Mach-E or VW ID.4.

How fast is the Kia EV6 Wind?

With AWD, the 2022 Kia EV6 Wind has a 0-60 mph time of just 4.6 seconds. And that is fairly quick for an SUV. Additionally, it offers up to 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque. Although if you opt for the RWD, you will get 225 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
