While it is hard to call any new vehicle that isn’t the Mitsubishi Mirage cheap, the 2023 Chevy Bolt does come close. It has a starting MSRP of $25,600, and that is actually cheaper than the 2022 model. There has been nearly a $6k price drop between the two models. And that is fairly impressive, considering that they are pretty much the same SUV in terms of platform.
As an electric vehicle for under $30k, the 2023 Bolt should appeal to a wider audience. Plus, as shown in the video above, Chevy’s EV can handle things like road trips and daily life. Even the top trim Bolt 2LT has a starting price of $29,795.
The new Bolt EV has legitimate range
One of the biggest factors of an EV is range. The 2023 Chevy Bolt has an EPA-estimated range of 259 miles. And while that might not be a groundbreaking distance, consider the price of this electric hatchback. The Bolt can handle Level 1 and Level 2 outlets, and Chevy hopes that this will eliminate the necessity of an at-home charger.
According to Car and Driver, you can still get the Chevy Bolt with DC fast charging if you want. This will charge the vehicle to about 100 miles of range every 30 minutes. And that should certainly help this hatchback be more practical for daily use.
The interior of this Chevy EV is comfortable
In terms of comfort, the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV does take it up a notch over previous models. There are now more soft-touch materials throughout the cabin, and although this is no racecar, the steering wheel does have a flat bottom. Cargo space is 17 cubic feet behind the second row, and in total, there is 57 cubic feet of cargo space.
The Bolt isn’t as fancy as some of the more expensive EVs out there, but for less than $30k, the cabin is decent enough. Plus, there is standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a 10.2-inch touchscreen.
Is it worth it to buy a Chevy Bolt?
If you want an EV, but don’t want to pay for something like a Kia EV6, the 2023 Bolt can be a good alternative. Just keep in mind you might be making some compromises. It doesn’t have as long a range as some of the competition, but it also doesn’t cost as much. And 250 miles should be enough for most uses.
Overall, the Chevy Bolt is a great entry-level EV. So, if you want a new electric SUV, it deserves to be on your radar. It’s clear that GM has put a lot of work into this vehicle. And hopefully, more brand begin to offer affordable electric cars.
