According to U.S. News, one of the world’s best EVs and family cars comes from Kia. The car expert examined the EV market data, built eight ranking categories, and listed the top contender for each category. On its list of the best hybrid and electric vehicles of 2023, the 2023 Kia EV6 tops the electric vehicle world.
On its list of the best hybrid and electric vehicles of 2023, the 2023 Kia EV6 is the overall winner, the 2023 Cadillac dominates the electric SUV market, and the 2023 Ford F-150 is the best electric truck. The Lucid Air Grand Touring is the best luxury electric car, the 2023 Toyota Prius is the best Hybrid car, the 2023 Kia Niro topped the best hybrid SUV, and the 2023 Lexus ES hybrid was the best luxury hybrid. Here are three reasons that allow the 2023 Kia EV6 to be the best EV.
1. The Kia EV6 travels far on a full charge
One of the biggest determiners of a good EV is its driving range. Car and Driver reports that most EV buyers are more interested in getting maximum driving range than top performance, so the Kia EV6 offers two battery sizes: a 58.0 kWh and a 77.4 kWh.
The EV6’s smaller battery has an EPA-rated range of 232 miles, while the long-range battery has a range of 310 miles. However, the EV6 with a larger battery doesn’t deliver a longer driving range because the high-performing models drain it faster to meet performance demand.
According to Kia, the base 2023 Kia EV6 has a rear-wheel drive, 230-hp configuration that delivers 310 miles of range. The dual motor all-wheel drive model has a 255-hp but drops the range to 274 miles, while the super hot, 576-hp all-wheel drive delivers 206 miles range when fully charged.
While the performance-oriented model has two large batteries, the build only delivers 206 miles per charge. However, Consumer Reports mentions that EV6’s range is competitive, even in the performance models.
2. A fast charge time delivers more rides and less charging with the EV6
When buying an electric car, people want a full charge to take them back and forth, running daily errands. However, many take frequent long trips, which demand a speedy charging time. According to Kia, owners can charge their EV6 battery from 10 to 80% in under 18 minutes when plugged into a 350-Kw fast charge. Car and Driver tested the claim and were impressed by the results.
The car expert reports that the manufacturer provides 400V and 800V DC fast chargers to allow owners to drive more and charge less. Kia says drivers can charge 217 miles of range in 18 minutes using their fast charger. However, it takes about 6.3 hours to fully charge the 2023 Kia EV6 using a 240V outlet. The upgraded powertrain model takes 8.4 hours to charge.
3. An enjoyable, quiet, and smooth acceleration driving experience
J.D. Power says the 2023 Kia EV6 delivers stunning straight-line performance. The car’s instant torque feels smooth on the road, allowing for better acceleration. An expert at J.D. Power highlights that the quick and quiet acceleration are the biggest hallmarks of the 2023 EV6 driving experience. The regenerative braking system slows and stops the car smoothly. Additionally, while people don’t view regenerative braking as a performance system, it proves valuable on the road.
The EV6’s popularity can be attributed to its powerful driving experience, impressive driving range, fast charge time, and other standard SUV features. At a starting price of $48,700 MSRP, U.S. News says the EV6 offers buyers the best value for money.
