Toyota isn’t the first name many consumers think of when they consider new full-size SUVs to buy or lease. The most competitive models are American models from General Motors and Stellantis in the eyes of many drivers. Toyota’s large SUV offers a lot more value than meets the eye. Here’s why the new 2024 Toyota Sequoia is the best full-size SUV for the money.

Reasons to get the 2024 Toyota Sequoia

  1. The nameplate outlasts many of its rivals
  2. Toyota recently redesigned the Sequoia’s interior and exterior
  3. The 2024 Toyota Sequoia has decent fuel economy thanks to its hybrid powertrain

While it’s much too early to tell how long the 2024 Sequoia model year lasts, the full-size SUV’s prior model years give us a good benchmark for its expected longevity.

Sequoia models are among the longest-lasting SUVs ever made, second only to Toyota Land Cruisers. In many ways, the Toyota Sequoia has replaced the full-size Toyota Land Cruiser. Expect the 2024 Toyota Sequoia to last for at least 200,000 miles or 14 years of ownership based on the average annual driving distance.

2024 Toyota Sequoia models could last over 200K miles when well maintained. On the other hand, other full-size SUVs struggle once mileage creeps past 150,000 miles. Many drivers completely give up on most SUVs once they approach 200,000 miles because that type of mileage often means hefty repair costs.

Toyota is known for producing vehicles that are built to last, like the Corolla and Highlander. Unsurprisingly, the Sequoia full-size SUV outlasts many of its competitors. It may have a higher starting price than rivals ($60,875), but chances are it’ll outlive ’em, ultimately saving drivers big bucks in the long run. So, if longevity is a concern, the Sequoia is a great place to start in its segment.

Toyota completely redesigned the Sequoia for the 2023 model year. The 2024 Toyota Sequoia has a modern exterior design, and its interior is much more comfortable than previous model years. Additionally, it features better standard tech and cabin materials. Toyota is addressing drivers’ quality concerns about the Sequoia nameplate, and the latest version is stunning.

The best features are reserved for upper trim levels, but the new Sequoia’s cabin quality is overall a huge improvement from the last generation. Furthermore, its design language, as does its standard powertrain, fits with the brand’s ambitions for the future.

Is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia a standard hybrid?

Every 2024 Toyota Sequoia comes standard with a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine and an electric motor that makes a whopping 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque- not too shabby. The full-size SUV achieves 21 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. It certainly isn’t the most efficient in its segment, but its electric motor saves it from being the least efficient.

The 2024 Sequoia has a 22.5-gallon gas tank. So, the large SUV should be able to travel for roughly 495 miles on a full tank of gas. That’s decent driving range for such a big SUV. Additionally, its power boost is a happy byproduct of its standard hybrid powertrain. The new Sequoia is the best full-size SUV for the money because it provides great value for a long period of time in terms of reliability, comfort, and even efficiency.
