In a time when overly complicated, unintuitive controls are popular; the simple Ram offering is a nice change of pace. Buyers have a choice of a few touchscreen sizes. Each includes advanced vehicle-connected services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto for higher trims.

As for the Silverado, CR says the expansive cockpit put come of them out of reach. Even the touchscreen is difficult to reach from the driver’s seat. In addition, many buttons are below the center stack, which can be annoying to find quickly. Despite the steering wheel audio controls’ convenience, they’re on the back of the wheel and take a lot of time to get used to finding.

However, the Ram 1500 is about as good as it gets. CR’s studies indicate that the Ram truck’s reliability has improved in the last few years and is likely to continue improving in 2022.

Alternatively, the Chevy Silverado remains unreliable. In the last two years, the Chevy truck experienced significant mechanical issues. Moreover, major engine problems, drivetrain problems, and even electrical problems are common. Buying a Ram 1500 instead of a Chevy Silverado will likely save you money on maintenance.
