It is a rare occurrence that a car is touted as one of the best sedans for decades on end. Honda has been producing the Accord for over 40 years, and for good reason. The 2018 Honda Accord Sport builds on this reputation for the beloved sedan in many different ways. Starting off the 10th generation of Honda’s favorite sedan, the 2018 Accord provides three major things for buyers. Reliability, safety, and a fun driving experience give the Accord high marks from nearly every media outlet and consumer.

Is the 2018 Honda Accord Sport reliable?

With the 2018 model year coming up on five years of age, the Accord Sport has been able to rack up some miles among all kinds of consumers. Most notably, Car and Driver released their 40,000-mile long-term review. The review goes into long-winded detail about how the 2018 Honda Accord does it all. C/D noted nit-picking issues, including the aluminum hood, which flutters at higher speeds, and the 10-speed automatic.

The automatic transmission is seemingly harsh, shifting from first to second gear. Car and Driver did note that it smoothed out after 15,000 miles. Overall, the 2018 Honda Accord outclasses its competition in terms of reliability. With a life expectancy past 200,000 miles, you can be confident in keeping the car around for the long haul.

How safe is the 2018 Honda Accord Sport?

An abundance of safety technology gives the driver confidence on the road, but how does the 2018 Accord fair in a crash test? NHTSA tests give the 2018 Honda Accord five out of five stars overall. Notable safety features that are standard on every model of the 2018 Accord are Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Optional safety features for the 2018 Accord Sport include Blind Sport Information, parking sensors, a Rear Cross Traffic Monitor, and a Driver Awareness Monitor. Combining all of the available features can give owners full confidence on the road. Some of the safety features may be slightly intrusive for some drivers, such as the Road Departure Mitigation, which can pull the car back into the lane.

Is the 2018 Honda Accord Sport fast?

If you opt for the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, you will be in for a good time with the 2018 Accord. A lively 252 horsepower paired with the 10-speed automatic presents a daily driver with enough power to have some fun. Car and Driver notes a 0-60 of 5.3 seconds, a very quick time for the simple family sedan. With others in its class, like the Toyota Camry, the 2018 Accord is roughly half a second faster than its V6-equipped rival.

Pairing the notably fast drivetrain with adaptive dampening suspension means the 2018 Accord isn’t lazy in the corners either. Direct steering inputs and good feedback through the wheel mean you can lean into corners with confidence. One improvement that could be made is the addition of a limited-slip differential (LSD). However, adding an LSD may put the Accord in a rivalry with the beloved Honda Civic Si.

Is the 2018 Honda Accord Sport worth it?

If you are in the market for a used Honda Accord, keeping an eye out for the 2018 Accord Sport is a great idea. With the fully loaded Touring trim coming in at just under $35,000, the Sport trim gives potential buyers more value for the money. A well-optioned Accord Sport should realistically run just above $20,000. Although they haven’t dropped much in price from their original MSRP, it is still worth picking one up if it still has relatively low mileage.
