If you’re looking for a luxurious pocket rocket that can do double duty as a sports sedan during the week and a race car on the weekend, then there’s almost no better choice than an Audi RS3. The only trouble is that a new Audi RS3 can easily cost north of $60,000 if you add up some of the options.

However, if you look at the used market, you can find one good amount less than the original sticker price, especially since the car has been out for the past few years. And in case you’re on the fence about buying a used one, here are a few reasons why it could prove to be a great decision in the long run.

The Audi RS3 holds its value well

No, you won’t be able to find an Audi RS3 in the $20,000 or $30,000 range as a nationwide search on Autotrader will reveal that most of the used examples are selling in the mid-$50,000 range for the newer models and in the high-$40,000 range for the 2017 models. However, that’s still a good deal considering that’s typically around 16 percent off the original sticker price. What that also means is that the RS3 holds its value well, so if you buy one, it will likely still be worth most of what you paid for it if you ever plan to sell it.

It has nearly 400 horsepower

Aside from its agile handling and race-focused interior, the main reason that anyone would buy an Audi RS3 is for its enormous power output. How does 394 hp out of a turbocharged 2.5-liter, five-cylinder engine sound? It sounds great conceptually, but being able to hear those five cylinders roar to life under hard acceleration is absolutely sublime. Even better, that glorious engine will rocket the RS3 to 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.9 seconds according to Audi.

Buying a certified pre-owned model gives you a good warranty

The older Audi RS3 model that you will currently find on the used market was built back in 2017 and that’s a good thing because that means that the RS3 will still qualify for Audi’s Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program. All Audi CPO cars go through a more rigorous 300+ point inspection and are sold with an extended warranty for up to 12 months with unlimited mileage. We always recommend buying an Audi with as much of a warranty as possible since repairs can be expensive, and the RS3 is definitely no exception.

Performance at a bargain

If you’re looking for a fast compact sedan that can blow the doors off of many more-expensive sports cars on the market, then the Audi RS3 is a great choice. It’s practical enough to fit your family in and run your errands, but fast enough to handle any kind of racetrack or dragstrip that you want to run it through on the weekends. On top of all of that, we think it’s a great-looking car that will easily make you happy for years to come.
