3 Reasons Drivers Probably Won’t Get the Most Comfortable SUV
Automakers Jeep, Lincoln, Cadillac, and more compete to design the most comfortable SUV models for families and large groups of passengers. Some SUVs are incredibly comfortable, but they aren’t practical purchases for the average consumer. Here are three reasons why most drivers probably won’t get the most comfortable SUV despite how good it may make occupants feel.
The most comfortable SUV is pricey
U.S. News & World Report claims that the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer is the most comfortable new SUV on the market. The automotive publication gave the full-size SUV a near-perfect interior score. The Wagoneer beat out models like the Grand Wagoneer, Kia Sportage, and Lincoln Navigator for the top spot.
So, the Jeep Wagoneer may be the most comfortable SUV, but does that equate to high sales and popularity? The reality is the average consumer isn’t able to afford the level of comfort that the full-size SUV provides. According to Money.com, the average new vehicle price for 2023 is nearly $50,000. The Jeep Wagoneer starts at $58,995. The Wagoneer isn’t unreasonably expensive for its vehicle segment, but more popular models like the Chevrolet Suburban and Chevrolet Tahoe are more affordable.
One reason that many drivers will avoid the most comfortable SUV is because of its starting price. Many midsize three-row SUVs like the Kia Telluride can accommodate a large number of passengers, so full-size SUVs are being passed on more often.
The Jeep Wagoneer is built for adventurous drivers
Jeep’s most popular nameplates, like the Wrangler, all have incredible off-roading prowess. In fact, many drivers that get Jeep vehicles purchase them because of their ability to tackle tough terrain. Many Jeep vehicles are designed with off-roading obstacles in mind. Who doesn’t enjoy a capable SUV, right?
Off-road vehicles may be getting much more popular, but the most popular family SUVs aren’t always designed with trails in mind. Many drivers will opt for large SUVs with superior on-road manners. Some of the Wagoneer’s rivals also have more cabin and cargo space. The Jeep Wagoneer is an excellent choice for drivers that want to take the road less traveled, but some competitors offer better experiences as daily drivers.
The Jeep Wagoneer is pretty thirsty
The Jeep Wagoneer, like most of the models in its segment, seems parched. It gets 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. It has a 26.5-gallon fuel tank. So, the Wagoneer can travel for roughly 543 miles on a full tank of gas. That’s an incredible driving range, but some SUVs can get even further on a full tank.
According to AAA.com, the national average gas price as of the time of publishing is $3.65. So, it costs around $96.73 to refuel a Wagoneer based on the national average gas price. Full-size SUVs can get incredibly expensive to refuel, so many drivers will pass on the most comfortable SUV because of its cost of ownership.
