As an electric SUV, the 2022 Kia EV6 brings a lot to the table. It is built on the same platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which earned Car and Driver’s EV of the Year award. Although EVs aren’t for everyone, they have been growing in popularity over the years. And with more brands entering the electric game, that is likely to continue. So, what makes the Kia EV6 electric SUV worthy of consideration?

1. The 2022 EV6 has legitimate range

When it comes to buying an EV, range is a huge thing to take into consideration. In terms of range, the 2022 Kia EV6 has an AMCI Certified range of 339 miles. Additionally, it can charge up to 80% in about 20 minutes. And that helps to make this electric SUV even more practical.

The EPA estimated all-electric range is 310 miles depending on which model that you purchase. 310 miles of range should be enough for daily use. And as charging infrastructure is improved, doing things like road trips will become more practical. Another notable feature that help the range of this EV is its available heat pump.

2. The EV6 is powerful

One of the perks of buying an EV is the instant delivery of power and torque. Not every Kia EV6 will offer the same amount of power, but when outfitted properly, this EV can make 320 horsepower and 446 pound-foot of torque. For this vehicle’s weight and size, that is ample power for most needs.

In 2023, an even more powerful Kia EV6 will be released. Known as the EV6 GT, it will make 576 hp and come with all-wheel drive. According to Car and Driver, the EV6 GT will also have a more aggressive design and feature a drift mode. So, clearly, Kia is not afraid of making a performance EV.

3. The 2022 Kia EV6 boasts unique design

The design of the EV6 might be one of its best features. Its exterior looks futuristic while not being too quirky. Inside of this electric SUV is a comfortable place to be. Although Kia has made an interesting design decision that might be frustrating to some. The audio and climate controls share the same space, meaning that you have to adjust between the two. You can easily think you are going to change the temperature and accidentally adjust which station you are listening to.

If you do opt for the upcoming GT model, you will get sporty seats and a revised steering wheel. These features help add to the performance attitude of this version. And, the GT-Line also brings some of that to the table.

Can you buy the EV6?

If you are interested in Kia’s new EV, finding one can be a difficult task. Because of supply constraint issues, manufacturers are having trouble stocking new models. But, hopefully, come 2023 some of those problems are resolved. That way, more folks can experience this electric SUV.

The 2022 EV6 has a starting MSRP of $41,400, but some models climb well above that.
