3 Reasons You Should Buy the 2022 Chevy Suburban – and 3 to Skip It
The 2022 Chevy Suburban is one of the best large SUVs out there. It’s not only enormous, it’s also incredibly versatile. The 2022 model is also loaded with features, making it extraordinarily family-friendly. If you’re in the market for a full-size SUV, you may be considering the new Suburban. Here are three reasons why the 2022 Chevy Suburban is a good SUV, and three reasons why you might want to consider something else.
The 2022 Chevy Suburban is a good SUV at a reasonable price
The 2022 Chevy Suburban may not be a steal, but it isn’t more expensive than other large SUVs. The new Chevy Suburban price starts at $54,700 for the base model LS. The 2022 Chevy Suburban LT is the next trim level up and it starts at $62,495.
There’s also the 2022 Chevy Suburban RST that starts at $65,695 and a Z71 which starts at $62,495. f you want one of the high-end Suburbans, you have two choices. The 2022 Chevy Suburban Premier starts at $70,495 or the Chevy Suburban High Country which is the most expensive Suburban you can buy. It starts at $77,395
The Chevy Suburban has a powerful V8 engine
Another good thing about the Chevy Suburban is that it has a powerful engine. Sure, the Suburban is a massive vehicle, and so its engine is pretty necessary to power this enormous beast, but it’s a solid V8. The 2022 Suburban LS comes with a 5.3-liter V8 engine that makes 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. That’s matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It also comes with four-wheel drive. There’s also a 6.2-liter V8 engine that makes 420 hp.
The Suburban is loaded with features
The 2022 Chevy Suburban LS also comes with LED headlights, 18-inch wheels, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban also comes with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment screen and a whole slew of safety features including forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist.
The Suburban LT comes with a hands-free liftgate and wireless charging. The LT also has leather seats in the first and second rows, as well as a nine-speaker sound system. The driver’s seat in the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban LT has memory settings, and both seats are heated. There’s even an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen with Google Assistant.
The Suburban uses a ton of gas
You’re probably not surprised to learn that one of the largest SUVs around with a large V8 engine uses a ton of fuel. The 2022 Suburban only gets up to 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The Suburban can hold up to 28 gallons in its gas tank.
It just might be too big
A vehicle the size of a Suburban may be necessary if you have a large family or other needs which require a ton of space. Forbes says that there isn’t a better vehicle for these needs, they also caution that it’s “big and ungainly, and is sheer vehicular overkill in absence of such special needs.”
The Suburban doesn’t necessarily hold its value
A full-size SUV like the 2022 Chevy Suburban is an investment. It’s a very expensive SUV, though its versatility just may make it worth it. Still, you’re not going to be able to sell your Chevy Suburban for anywhere near what you paid for it if you decide to exchange it for something else in a few years. The Suburban only holds 32% of its value after five years.
