3 Reasons the Tesla Cybertruck Is Still the Most Impactful Electric Pickup Truck
The Tesla Cybertruck is Tesla’s first pickup truck model. The innovative electric vehicle debuted way back in 2019, but most consumers have no idea when the truck will actually be available for purchase. After being pushed back three different times, it finally seems like drivers will get a chance to experience the Cybertruck in 2023. Here’s why it’s still the most impactful electric pickup truck without even being available yet.
Tesla Cybertruck order numbers are bonkers
The number of pre-orders placed for the Cybertruck is ludicrous. Last month, Electrek reported that there are now at least 1.5 million Cybertruck pre-orders. If only a third of pre-orders actually made it to the final purchase stage, the Cybertruck would still be a massive success.
These pre-orders make the Cybertruck the most hyped electric pickup truck by a long shot. When the Ford F-150 Lightning reached 200,000 pre-orders, it made headlines. The Lightning seems increasingly harder to purchase since it hit the scene. Cybertruck orders could be backed up for years because of the large number of pre-orders.
If any plant can handle a crazy number of orders, it’s Tesla’s Gigafactory in Texas. So, if a large percentage of drivers that pre-ordered the Cybertruck do end up purchasing it, it could equal waves of happy Tesla customers as the factory pumps out the innovative new EV.
The Cybertruck is still unique despite the arrival of more competitors
The Tesla Cybertruck may have initially beat competitors to the punch, but it’ll be late to the party by the time it hits the streets. So, it loses the chance to make a first impression on the world as the first available electric pickup truck. That title belongs to the Rivian R1T Launch Edition, an electric pickup truck with its own impressive characteristics.
The Cybertruck is still the most impactful electric pickup truck because of its exterior design. It features cold-rolled stainless steel. This exterior makes the Cybertruck one of the most durable vehicles on the market. The stainless steel also gives the truck a unique design aesthetic that’s easily distinguishable.
Many electric truck nameplates draw inspiration from other models in a brand’s portfolio. The Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevy Silverado EV are inspired by their predecessors. The Cybertruck, on the other hand, is the first of its kind from Tesla. It doesn’t look like any of its siblings.
The Tesla Cybertruck could be more affordable than its rivals
Affordability is not synonymous with the Tesla brand. In fact, some of its most popular nameplates, like the Model 3 and Model Y have experienced extreme price fluctuations. Still, the Cybertruck has the potential to be more affordable than many of its rivals.
Kelley Blue Book claims that the Cybertruck will start at around just $39,900. If Tesla produces an electric truck with an MSRP under $40K, it will be more affordable than the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and Lordstown Endurance. Affordable pricing and availability would give Tesla a huge advantage over competitors.
