3 Reasons to Buy a 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E, not a Toyota bZ4X
One of the newest EVs on the market is the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E, and many car shoppers are wondering how this performance-focused electric SUV compares with other new EV options. Another recent addition to the EV segment is the 2022 Toyota bZ4X, and in comparison to the Mustang Mach-E, the Ford is better in many areas. Here’s a look at three reasons why the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E is a better option for car shoppers than the 2022 Toyota BZ4X.
1. The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E has a lot more power and torque
As Toyota’s first modern EV car, the bZ4X isn’t that spectacular in most areas, and this is especially true in terms of its power. It comes standard with a single electric motor and front-wheel drive, but as Car and Driver wrote, there’s also a dual-motor and all-wheel drive option. The standard single engine gets just 201 hp and 196 lb-ft of torque, while the dual-motor option gets 215 hp and 249 lb-ft of torque.
In comparison, the Mach-E gets more power with its standard setup, and Ford offers options that’ll boost the car’s power output even more. The standard Mach-E gets about 266 hp from its electric motor, and Ford offers several more powerful options.
There’s a configuration that gives the Ford EV 290 hp, an option that pushes it to 346 hp, and the most powerful trim, the GT trim, gets 480 hp from its two electric motors. It’s the same for torque, as the standard Mach-E gets 317 lb-ft of torque. The GT trim gets 634 lb-ft of torque from its two electric motors. Thanks to those specs, the Mach-E will be much faster than the Toyota, no matter the trim.
2. The 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E also has more cargo capacity than the Toyota does
Since both EVs are SUVs, car shoppers will probably care a lot about cargo capacities. The Mach-E wins here, too. This is primarily because the Mach-E has a frunk while the bZ4X doesn’t. The Toyota has about 27.7 cu-ft of cargo space without folding its seats down, and if its seats get folded down, then it has a max cargo capacity of 56.1 cu-ft.
On the other hand, the Mach-E has 34.4 cu-ft. of cargo space without folding any seats, and it gets a max cargo capacity of 64.4 cu-ft. with its seats folded down, according to Edmunds. The Mach-E’s frunk has a cargo capacity of 4.8 cu-ft, so the frunk is a big reason for Ford’s 8.3-inch cargo capacity advantage over the Toyota.
3. Drivers can get more range on the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E too
Car shoppers are looking at range when it comes to EVs. The Ford SUV is the better car concerning that. However, it’s close, as the standard Mach-E has less range than the standard bZ4X. The difference, of course, comes down to their options. The standard Mach-E gets about 230 miles with the rear-wheel-drive option, and 211 miles with the all-wheel drive option.
The bZ4X, meanwhile, gets 252 miles with the standard front-wheel drive option and 222 miles with the all-wheel drive option. Those are the only options Toyota offers, but Ford already has more options. Ford offers the Extended Range option for the Mach-E, and with rear-wheel drive, this can boost the car’s range to 300 miles. Even with all-wheel drive and the GT trim, the Mach-E can still get over 260 miles of range.
