Here are three reasons you should choose the 2023 Sequoia, and two reasons you might be better off choosing another option.
Pros of the 2023 Toyota Sequoia
#1. The Toyota Sequoia seats up to eight passengers
The 2023 Toyota Sequoia offers seating for up to eight passengers with its three rows of seats. This feature is rarely seen today in most of the other SUV competition, which typically seats up to seven passengers if three-row seating is offered.
These seats also come in a variety of different materials as well, from Toyota’s premium leather-trimmed seats with contrasting stitching, to Toyota’s durable SofTex synthetic material.
#2. Extremely capable offroad
While the Sequoia is offered in a rear-wheel drive setup from the factory, every trim level of the Sequoia can be had with four-wheel drive, which comes included with 4WDemand, a part-time four-wheel drive system.
The Sequoia TRD Pro model comes standard with four-wheel drive, premium offroad suspension, internal bypass coil overs, rear remote reservoir shocks, and TRD Pro front stabilizer bar.
#3. Incredible towing capacity
Coming in at 9,520 pounds, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia has one of the best towing capacities in its class, thanks to its Toyota Tundra chassis and solid rear axle design. Even with this high towing capacity, this Sequoia finds a way to have even better fuel economy than its previous generation model with 20-22 mpg combined.
Cons of the new 2023 Toyota Sequoia
#1. The largest touchscreen is not standard
The Sequoia is a large SUV with a large price tag, and it is extremely disappointing to see that the biggest infotainment screen available on the Sequoia can only be found in a higher trim level with a much larger price tag.
The base model Sequoia gets an 8-inch touchscreen, which is comically small for a vehicle of this size a Mitsubishi Mirage has a similarly sized touchscreen. According to TrueCar, you will have to upgrade to the Limited trim level, which is nearly $7,000 more expensive just to get the larger 14-inch touchscreen available for the Sequoia.
#2. Third-row seating can be tight
With the 2023 Toyota Sequoia being a truck-based SUV with a solid rear axle, there will be some cargo space compromises to be found in the rear of the vehicle, but that is to be expected. This SUV can still seat eight passengers, but there is quite a lack of legroom for the rear-most passengers.
