The 3.6L V6 blows the old version out of the water with 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Combined with the eight-speed automatic transmission, it feels smooth on the roads. Buyers could opt for two or four-wheel drive. This truck returned 20 mpg combined (on the 2WD Quad Cab), which works out to 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

A 4.7L V8 is standard on the 2013 Ram 1500 Tradesman trim that gets 310 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. On other trims, a 5.7L V8 gets 395 hp and 407 lb-ft of torque. Both options get 16 mpg combined or 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.

Consider the 2013 Ram 1500 if you want a comfortable full-size truck

For a full-size truck like the 2013 Ram 1500, the automaker somehow made it more comfortable than any other option in the segment. On the outside, power-folding mirrors make life easier, along with power stainless-steel running boards.

A single button locks the tailgate and RamBox cargo system from the inside. Edmunds notes that the Ram 1500 has the most comfortable interior of any other vehicles in the segment. Keyless entry and ignition are available, as is the option of a WiFi hotspot link.

The base trim comes with quality materials and an easy-to-use touchscreen interface. For those who want a little more luxury, the Laramie trim comes with wood-grain and leather upholstery. Both the front and back seats are comfortable, with plenty of room for adults. Finally, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration gave the 2013 truck a four-star overall safety rating to keep all of those adults safe.

Towing is no issue with the full-size Ram truck

The V6 2013 Ram 1500 can tow up to 6,500 pounds when properly equipped. That’s enough for most situations. With the 5.7L V8, the Ram can tow up to 10,450 pounds.

In the area of safety, 2013 pickup trucks weren’t the safest option on the road. Four-wheel antilock disc brakes, stability control, and hill-start assist are standard. Ram also included front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags to keep the passengers safe. Trailer-sway control is included, but buyers had to add the fully integrated trailer brake control system.

Not to mention, the 2013 Ram is one of the best full-size used trucks under $25,000. If these aren’t reasons enough to consider the 2013 Ram 1500, just go ahead and buy the Ford.
