Let’s face it, trying to find a reliable truck or SUV is hard enough these days. These three reliable Toyota trucks and SUVs have high safety scores from national groups but have done most of the depreciating already. Three of the best sport utility vehicles and trucks that Toyota offers still come in under $60,000 for the top-of-the-line picks.

The 2018 Toyota RAV4 made the list of reliable Toyota trucks and SUVs

There isn’t much to dislike about the 2018 Toyota RAV4, Edmunds says. In fact, Edmunds says the RAV4 has one of the segment’s biggest and most versatile cargo areas. For 2018, Toyota added an Adventure trim, and the SE trim received an increased ride height (up to 6.5 inches). Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive was available at the time.

Toyota’s Pre-Collision System helped apply the brakes in a scenario where a collision was possible. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is what the automaker calls adaptive cruise control, which is helpful for the daily driver. Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist also worked well on the RAV4.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration gave the 2018 Toyota RAV4 a five-star safety rating. It received the Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety.

You can’t have reliable Toyota trucks and SUVs without the 2019 Toyota 4Runner

For those looking for an SUV that does it all, the 2019 Toyota 4Runner is worth a second look. It has more off-road capability than the competition and comes available in enough configurations to suit many buyers’ needs. Plus, the price range makes it more accessible to those looking for a reliable Toyota truck or SUV under $30,000.

Unfortunately for some buyers, the 4Runner lacks safety technology. It does have Downhill Assist Control and Brake Assist for better control in some situations, as well as Smart Stop Technology to reduce engine power and save gas.

Otherwise, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration gave the 2019 Toyota 4Runner a four-star safety rating. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety also gave the Toyota SUV high scores on its tests.

List Price Range: $24,351 – $54,998

Not many trucks can do the job of the 2013 Toyota Tundra. It offers strong V8 powertrains and a smooth automatic transmission. Depending on its configuration, the Tundra has some huge beds to choose from that will suit most buyers. It is one of the most capable trucks from that time frame.

When equipped with the 5.7L V8 and the towing package, it can tow up to 10,400 pounds. Otherwise, the base V8 with 310 hp and 327 lb-ft of torque can tow a maximum of 8,100 pounds. Toyota included antilock brakes, stability/traction control, and trailer sway control for safety features. It also received front side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags, and front knee airbags.

Both the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety gave the Tundra good scores for a full-size truck.

List Price Range: $22,900 – $32,998

Even if one of these isn’t right for you, these are some of the most reliable Toyota trucks and SUVs from the last decade. Going up or down a year might bring more options in your area, but don’t be afraid to expand your search. There could be a dealership off your radar that has a better selection.
