The time to buy new SUVs could be right around the corner. October is notorious for solid price drops as dealers try to clear out inventory to make room for next year’s models. Three popular models that face declining sales could have the biggest price cuts. 

Three  struggling SUVs are expected to have major discounts due to stagnant sales 

October is already a great time to snag great deals on popular SUVs. However, slowing sales and an excess of inventory could help prices for three  struggling SUVs drop even more. 

The first SUV that’s expected to provide huge discounts is the Ford Expedition. According to Yahoo Finance, bigger SUVs aren’t selling as well due to economic uncertainty. 

People have been delaying large purchases and full-size SUVs come at a premium price. The 2024 Expedition has an MSRP of $54,600. This is before the destination fee and dealership markups are factored in. 

Plus, larger SUVs are hungry. Drivers have been leaning away from big gas guzzlers for more fuel-efficient options. 

The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been holding down the fort for Stellantis. However, it’s not safe from declining sales. 

It’s a luxury option making it more expensive than rivals. The 2024 Grand Cherokee starts at $38,035. While the Grand Cherokee 4xe is a fuel-saving model, it increases the MSRP to a whopping $60,490. Rivals offer more affordable hybrid options. 

Also, the gas-powered Toyota Highlander is another one of these three struggling SUVs facing an inventory surplus. The hybrid model isn’t facing as much of an inventory buildup. 

Dealerships could provide bigger discounts for Highlander models to get them off the lot. The Highlander in particular may seem dated in the crowded segment. Refreshed models like the Hyundai Santa Fe could be stealing drivers. 

Plus, dealerships could expect the updated 2025 model to be more popular, so it’s time to clear out 2024 SUVs. So, keep an eye on these SUVs for huge discounts in October.
