3 Things the 2024 Nissan Rogue Needs to Update
In a world with tons of Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V models, the Nissan Rogue can get lost. But other SUVs shouldn’t steal the spotlight. The 2024 Nissan Rogue is an excellent SUV to consider but three things to improve if it wants to keep up.
1. The 2024 Nissan Rogue needs a hybrid engine
The 2024 Nissan Rogue is powered by a standard turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with 201 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque.
This is plenty of muscle and the Rogue can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.8 seconds. It can tow up to 1,500 lbs, which falls short as rivals can tow up to 3,500 lbs.
It gets an EPA-estimated 30 mpg in the city and up to 37 mpg on the highway but doesn’t offer a hybrid engine.
The 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 40 mpg in the city and up to 41 mpg on the highway.
The 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 43 mpg in the city and up to 36 mpg on the highway.
2. The 2024 Rogue could use more cargo space
The 2024 Nissan Rogue provides 36.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and up to 74.1 cubes overall. That’s a good start.
With the Honda CR-V, you get 39.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and up to 76.5 cubes overall.
Also, the Hyundai Tucson provides 38.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats with up to 80.3 cubes.
Taller drivers and passengers may find the Nissan Rogue to be a bit snug as well. On the list of compact SUVs with the most leg space, the Nissan Rogue came in 14th place at 38.5 inches of legroom.
The Tucson landed in first place with 41.3 inches of legroom and the Honda CR-V came in third place with 41.0 inches.
3. The Rogue could be more refined
The 2024 Nissan Rogue has plenty of muscle but could be a little more refined. The transmission and engine have rough responses. The system is a bit sluggish with noticeable surges.
Plus, the steering is a bit vague with dull handling. The Mazda CX-5 or Genesis GV70 are more athletic options to consider.
Critics mention that rivals offer a smoother ride than the Rogue. Imperfections in the road and uneven surfaces are noticeable. Also, the interior is a bit loud.
Overall the Rogue is a great choice with plenty of standard features and stout power. But rivals offer more space, comfort, and hybrid fuel savings.
