3 Things Hold the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 Back
Before y’all come after us, we recognized the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 as a good truck. It’s robust and well-rounded. However, it’s not the best. Critics rank the Ram 1500, Ford F-150, and Toyota Tundra ahead of it for clear reasons. See what holds the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 back.
Three potential 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 drawbacks
The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 has great improvements over the outgoing generation to offer. It has an improved interior quality, enhanced ride, and the diesel engine provides more power. But it’s still lacking.
While it has lots of versatile benefits, it simply falls short. The Silverado is still playing catch-up with Ford and Ram. It doesn’t have a super truck like the Ford F-150 Raptor R or Ram 1500 TRX and can’t match their quality.
1. The 2023 Silverado 1500 could have a better ride
Dedicated Silverado fans probably won’t mind that the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 is a bit more rough and tumble than the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500. The Ram 1500 is known for having the smoothest ride with the most responsive handling, which is why it’s ranked higher.
AutoBlog shared that the Silverado does impress with its direct steering and responsive handling. However, it feels truckier than its rivals. It’s not as comfortable or refined as other options.
Because of this, the team recommends taking the Ram 1500 or Ford F-150 on a test drive if you’re considering the Chevy Silverado as your next daily driver. The difference between each brand is noticeable.
2. The better Silverado interior is limited
The 2023 Chevy Silverado has a much better interior with higher-quality materials and updated tech, which is great. It can hold its own against other premium trucks with wood grain trim and plush leather upholstery.
But it’s only available on the LT trim and models above it. The Work Truck, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss models still have the old, outdated interior. It’s filled with hard plastics and other cheap materials.
In fact, the standard WT model has vinyl upholstery, manual windows, manual locks, and a two-speaker audio system. The Ford F-150 at least has standard power windows to feel like a truck from this century.
Although we will share that the higher trim levels are quite comfortable with heated seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, and a rear power sliding window.
3. The Silverado could have more engine options
The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 offers four stout engine options. But it doesn’t have a hybrid setup like the Ford F-150 PowerBoost or the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel.
Autoblog found the Silverado engines to be less enjoyable even though the Duramax diesel is impressively quiet and fast. The 2.7-liter turbo and diesel engines are recommended over the two V8 options.
Also, there’s no supercharged V8 engine with 700 hp. But the new ZR2 off-roading model is a beast. The F-150 Lightning has an electric powertrain, and the Ram 1500 and Silverado are trying to catch up.
There are plenty of great things to say about the Silverado 1500. It’s just not the best. Other trucks are more comfortable, have better standard interior features, and offer more powertrain options.
