3 Things to Know Before Buying a Ford Maverick Pickup Truck
There’s no doubting the popularity of the Ford Maverick pickup truck. This small truck took the market by storm when it was first introduced, and it seems like the Blue Oval just can’t keep up with demand. If you haven’t placed an order for the 2023 Maverick, you’re probably out of luck. But you might still be interested in Ford’s compact pickup. What should you know about the Maverick?
The Ford Maverick is available in three trim levels
Although this is Ford’s small truck, the Maverick shares its trims with other trucks from the Blue Oval, such as the F-150. Available trim levels include the XL, XLT, and Lariat. The Ford Maverick XL is by far the most basic version of this pickup. It has a starting price of $22,195.
Although the XL is the base model, you can opt to equip it with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine to give you more power. A notable change over the 2022 model is the addition of standard cruise control, which for some reason, Ford made an add-on at first.
The next step up is the Maverick XLT. This model is slightly more expensive, but you do get more standard equipment. This includes keyless entry and cubby storage in your truck bed. Plus, the XLT opens up the door to the FX4 Off-Road package and the Tremor package.
The most expensive version of the Maverick is known as the Lariat. It comes with more comfort features, plus aluminum wheels.
For 2023, the EcoBoost engine is no longer an extra cost
The Ford Maverick is notable because it comes standard with a hybrid engine. If you want the benefit of more power and all-wheel drive, you can equip this pickup with a turbocharged engine.
You’ll still have to pay extra for the AWD system, but now Ford is offering the EcoBoost engine at no additional charge. And that might be the tipping point for those that are interested in this small truck.
The 2023 Ford Maverick has a dedicated off-road package
Now, you might think a unibody truck has no place on the trails. But Ford is attempting to prove otherwise. According to Car and Driver, the 2023 Maverick has an optional package known as the Tremor.
The Tremor package is only available to the Maverick XLT and Maverick Lariat. You must also equip your small truck with the EcoBoost engine and AWD. The AWD system does get some tweaks from the Tremor package, and the 2023 Maverick gets a one-inch lift.
One of the cooler tech features is Ford’s Trail Control system. Think of this feature as cruise control but for off-road situations. For a more aggressive-looking truck, you can also get the Tremor Appearance package.
Can you order the 2023 Ford Maverick?
Unfortunately, if you want a new Maverick pickup truck, you are probably out of luck. Orders filled up so quickly for this model that, according to Ford Authority, the Blue oval was forced to close them fairly quickly.
