Is the 2022 Kia Telluride worth buying? 

Yes, the 2022 Kia Telluride is an excellent SUV to consider that’s far from boring. It provides an engaging ride, unmatched comfort, and is loaded with modern tech. The Telluride even matches the competition with its ability to tow up to 5,000 lbs.

We drove the top-spec SX trim with AWD with all the bells and whistles such as Nappa leather upholstery, a wireless phone charge, hands-free power liftgate, the self-leveling rear suspension, and more. 

1. The Kia Telluride is comfortable 

The 2022 Kia Telluride has the perfect seats for people of all shapes and sizes. It’s pretty rare to find a seat that’s the right fit for someone who is 5’1″. The headrest could actually be lowered to fit me. 

In the Mazda CX-50, the seats were too large, and my head sat under the rest. But in the Kia Telluride, the seat provides the ideal fit. It could be adjusted to fit taller drivers too. There are plenty of power adjustment settings to move forward, back, up, and down. 

At first, it was difficult to reach the multimedia controls, but after repositioning the seat, everything we needed was within reach. Plus, the seat is supportive and well-padded for long drives. 

2. The Telluride caters to your mood 

Critics don’t spend enough time explaining the driving modes in the 2022 Kia Telluride. However, there is a setting that caters to every mood. 

For example, the Eco Mode saves fuel but adjusts the transmission and acceleration response times. The engine is a little louder, and the acceleration isn’t as peppy, but it can help you save by sipping on fuel, especially in urban areas. 

The Comfort Mode seems ideal for a relaxing drive home during your commute after a long day at work. The suspension is smoother, the steering is lighter to require less effort, and the engine is much quieter. It provides a cushioned, easier ride. 

Use Sport Mode to have some fun. It increases the throttle response and provides faster transmission shifts for a more engaging experience. The suspension is a little stiffer, and the steering is more direct to enhance control at higher speeds. It may use more fuel, but the extra power is worth it! 

Smart Mode combines the best of each option to cater to your personal driving habits. It provides extra power, smooths out rough patches of road, and saves fuel as needed for an optimal performance. 

We didn’t test the Snow Mode because it’s August. There’s no ice to be found. However, stay tuned for our off-roading review that covers the AWD performance. 

3. The Telluride is spacious 

The 2022 Kia Telluride isn’t a massive SUV like the Toyota Sequoia, but it’s not short on passenger and cargo space either. You can access 21.3 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear and up to 87 cubes total. 

Each seat provides plenty of head space and leg room for stretching out, and the center console is a good size. There isn’t a console between the captain’s chairs in the second row, making it easier to access the third row. 

The trunk area is wide and deep. There is more than enough room for crates of water and much more. The rear hatch has a low liftover height, making it easier to load heavy items. Plus, there is an extra storage compartment under the floor. 

The Kia Telluride is comfortable and accessible. Plus, it caters to your mood with various customizable options. It can be peaceful, save fuel, or satisfy the need for speed. But it’s not perfect, and the negatives will be covered in our full review.
