The Accord has been Honda’s bread-and-butter vehicle ever since it first came out in 1976. Since then, it’s won many awards from many automotive media companies and organizations like J.D. Power. The current generation Accord debuted in 2018 and continues to get high ratings today. It’s easy to see why the model remains popular and receives high ratings. It’s an attractive sedan with good performance and a well-laid-out interior. Features, quality materials, and workmanship give it the upscale feel of a premium vehicle. From a practical standpoint, it offers lots of room for people and a generous trunk. However, per J.D. Power, three things stand out to 2022 Honda Accord owners.  

1. The power of the Accord’s engine

The Honda Accord offers several engine options, starting with a 192-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder, which is the most popular choice. Buyers can also choose a hybrid with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors or a turbocharged 252-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder for more performance. J.D. Power calls the Accord “one of the best” sedans, praising the engine lineup. It also notes that the Accord has an available adaptive suspension system that works to deliver a comfortable yet engaging ride.

2. The Accord’s ability to carry everything you want

One of the other appealing aspects of the Accord is its adaptability. The interior is large enough to carry five people comfortably. It offers a generous trunk with a fold-down rear seat. Short of towing a heavy trailer or hauling a large, heavy payload, the Accord can carry just about anything.   

3. The ease of loading and unloading the car

Good Ergonomics have long been one of Honda’s defining attributes. Not just in terms of interior layout and the functional nature of the controls but the ease of using the midsize car. For example, thoughtful touches like the wide opening and low liftover height for the trunk or the locations for the controls to open the trunk or fold down the seats. These are things you don’t necessarily think about when buying a car, but they are things you’ll appreciate later.   

Is the 2022 Honda Accord a good car? 

The Honda Accord does everything you need a car to do and does those things in an enjoyable way. In addition to what owners say in the J.D. Power survey, U.S. News ranked it first in the midsize class, saying, “the 2022 Honda Accord’s #1 ranking is based on its score within the Midsize Cars category. It is the winner of our 2022 Best Midsize Car for the Money award and the winner of our 2022 Best Midsize Car for Families award.” 

It seems that U.S. News recognizes the same attributes that Honda Accord owners reported in the J.D. Power survey. Or, as Car & Driver said, “versatile, comfortable, affordable, and fun, the 2022 Accord shines in every way a car can.”
