3 Trucks With the Perfect Blend of Performance and Comfort
There are many factors to consider when buying a new truck. Performance, interior, safety, and reliability are all important factors to consider. Luckily, U.S. News & World Report helps by reviewing trucks and providing ratings. Here’s a look at three top-rated 2019 trucks’ comfort and performance.
The 2019 Ram 1500 is a great all-around truck
U.S. News ranked the 2019 Ram 1500 as the best full-size pickup truck that is sold today. Fully redesigned for model year 2019, it has an overall score of 9.0 out of 10.
It also earned an interior score of 9.4 out of 10. U.S. News said that “its interior is the most comfortable you’ll find in the segment.” The cabin provides a quiet interior that is finished with high-quality materials. The truck offers a very smooth ride. The modern design for the cabin is very roomy. Not to mention, the back seats have the most space of any full-size truck.
There are plenty of choices for the interior. Vinyl upholstery is standard, but upgrade options include cloth, leather, and premium leather. Other options include power-adjustable, heated, and ventilated front bucket seats; heated and ventilated reclining rear seats; a heated steering wheel; and power-adjustable pedals.
A 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and multiple driver assistance features are also available. The truck has a user-friendly infotainment system, plus physical controls for some functions for when you don’t want to use the touch screen.
The 2019 Ram 1500 has an 8.5 rating for performance following plenty of changes as part of the redesign. The biggest change is that its maximum towing and hauling capacities increased by about 20%.
While the F-150 still has higher maximum towing and hauling capacities, the Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750 pounds and haul up to 2,300 pounds, some of the highest totals for the class. Its 305-horsepower V6 engine option has a mild-hybrid eTorque system, which improves fuel economy.
The 395 horsepower V8 engine option is available with or without the eTorque system. This truck is good for off-road driving as long as conditions aren’t too extreme.
The 2019 Honda Ridgeline has plenty of seating
The 2019 Honda Ridgeline ranked as the top compact pickup truck, with a U.S. News overall score of 8.3 out of 10. It came in with an interior score of 8.4, and its premium interior is finished with high-quality materials resulting in a quiet cabin.
The truck comfortably seats adults in both the front and rear seats. A tilt and telescoping steering wheel and cloth upholstery are both standard. Interior options include leather upholstery, power-adjustable heated front seats, and tri-zone automatic climate control. It also has driver assistance technology options. However, the infotainment system can be confusing.
The 2019 Honda Ridgeline comes in with an 8.1 score for performance. It has all-wheel drive but not true four-wheel drive. The front-wheel drive models can tow up to 3,500 pounds. Meanwhile, the all-wheel drive models can tow up to 5,000 pounds, which is a lower towing capacity than other options. It has a 280-horsepower V6 engine and can easily handle mud and snow.
The 2019 Ford F-150 can go anywhere
