Saving money with used SUVs can be a long-term solution for drivers on a budget. But you can settle for just any old SUV. Stretch your dollar further with one of the following used SUVs that will last over 250,000 miles. 

Three used SUVs that will last longer than 250,000 miles 

They don’t build cars like they used to, which is beneficial if you want something that lasts. In 1970 the average car lasted about 5.7 years and was done by the time they hit the 100,000-mile mark. 

Now the average car lasts for 12.5 years in the United States and can make it well past 200,000 miles. Some even surpass 300,000 miles with proper maintenance and regular care. There are used SUVs out there that provide their worth. 

1. The Toyota Sequoia 

A used Toyota Sequoia model from the previous generation has a potential lifespan of 296,509 miles. I’m referring to model years from before 2023 when the current model launched. 

In some cases, the Sequoia can reach 400,000 miles or more. It just depends on how well it was taken care of by previous owners. 

The Sequoia is built to be durable and withstand harsh off-roading conditions. Sticking to the pavement makes it last even longer. 

2. The Chevrolet Suburban

The Chevrolet Suburban has been a reliable workhorse for decades. The average Suburban is expected to reach 265,000 miles or more. 

The current generation launched in 2021 and the newer models have solid reliability ratings that align with older generations.

Some Suburban models easily surpass 300,000 miles. According to iSeeCars, it’s in third place on the list of SUVs most likely to make it past 250,000 miles. It’s outranked by the Toyota Sequoia and Land Cruiser. 

3. The Chevrolet Tahoe 

The Chevrolet Tahoe is another one of the used SUVs that you can trust for longevity. It can reach about 250,388 miles on average. 

It was redesigned along with the Suburban in 2021. The current generation has higher reliability scores than the previous one, so you don’t have to go back too far in age for a long-lasting option. 

Some Tahoe models can reach over 300,000 miles but often need expensive repairs around the 250,000-mile mark.
