The 2022 Audi e-tron is grabbing attention as a standout luxury EV. One of this crossover’s closest competitors is the 2023 Genesis GV60, the luxury brand’s first dedicated electric model.

If you’re trying to decide between the two EVs, you might be wondering which one to buy. Each has its pros and cons. But here’s a quick comparison showing what the 2022 Audi e-tron does better than the 2023 Genesis GV60.

1. The 2022 Audi e-tron boasts more power than the standard 2023 Genesis GV60

Gone are the days when consumers hesitated to buy EVs instead of their gas-powered counterparts due to concerns over weak powertrains. Both the 2022 Audi e-tron and 2023 Genesis GV60 pack plenty of horsepower. However, the e-tron is more potent than the standard GV60.

According to Audi, all e-tron models harness 402 hp and 490 lb-ft of torque, making this EV competitive with even many gas-powered crossovers. However, the GV60’s base model, the Advanced, produces only 314 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque, Car and Driver reports. For more power, you’ll have to upgrade to the GV60 Performance trim, making 429-hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. It starts at $68,985, nearly $2,000 more than the standard e-tron, starting at $67,095.

So if you’re looking for more power without having to shell out more money, the Audi e-tron is a solid choice. 

2. The 2022 Audi e-tron outdoes the 2023 Genesis GV60 in battery capacity

Battery capacity is another area that can make all the difference when it comes to EVs. It can often help EVs drive farther between recharges, giving greater range. (However, many factors go into such determinations, so it’s never just a straight line from battery capacity to range.)  

If you’re looking to maximize your battery capacity, the 2022 Audi e-tron comes with a 95-kWh battery. The Genesis GV60 doesn’t offer as much. According to Car and Driver, it comes with a 77.4-kWh battery pack. 

With a battery capacity 23% greater than the GV60, the e-tron is the way to go for anyone who values such considerations. 

3. Audi’s towing capacity blows the Genesis away

Towing capacity refers to the amount of weight a vehicle can pull behind it. It’s important to know this information about your car before you start towing. If you exceed your vehicle’s towing capacity, you could damage the transmission and rear axle.

For that reason, if you plan to pull a trailer, towing capacity will be a factor you’ll want to consider. After all, campers, boats, and other large towables can often present a challenge for EVs not equipped to handle heavy loads. 

When it comes to towing capacity, there’s no comparison between the 2022 Audi e-tron and 2023 Genesis GV60. According to Edmunds, the former can tow 4,000 pounds. The latter can trailer only 2,000 pounds. That’s a 2,000-pound difference.

Though the GV60 and e-tron are both good electric crossovers, the Audi outperforms its rival in a few key areas. If any of those areas are deal breakers for you, you’ll likely find the e-tron the better buy.
