There is no denying that the Toyota Tundra is bringing the heat with its brand new design, but the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 just got incredible updates as well. Before going all in on a new truck, see where the 2022 Chevy Silverado may have advantages over the 2022 Toyota Tundra.

While the 2022 Toyota Tundra deserves your attention, don’t let it totally steal the show. There are plenty of reasons to consider buying the 2022 Chevy Silverado instead. Both trucks have their pros and cons to consider.

It’s true. The Tundra got a new exterior design, new suspension, a revamped interior, new tech, a hybrid engine, and more. But the Silverado also got exterior styling tweaks, a new interior, and updated tech. See how they compare.

1. The Silverado is more comfortable

According to Pickup Truck Talk, the 2022 Chevy Silverado is more comfortable than the 2022 Toyota Tundra. The Silverado has a reputation for being uncomfortable and outdated, but things have changed.

Thanks to an updated interior, the seats are larger and much more supportive. The Tundra has seats that are a little stiff in comparison. Plus, the Silverado could have more passenger space in the rear.

Both trucks have a pretty quiet interior, but the Silverado has a quieter engine, leading to more peaceful drives. Plus, the Silverado is a little smoother on the pavement. But both trucks have a peppy acceleration.

2. The Chevy Silverado has more muscle

The 2022 Toyota Tundra can tow up to 12,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,940 lbs. This is a tremendous increase in power, as the outgoing model can only tow up to 10,200 lbs and carry a payload of up to $1,730 lbs.

When properly equipped, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 can tow up to 13,300 lbs, putting it close to the Ford F-150, which maxes out at 14,000 lbs. It can also carry a payload of up to 2,300 lbs.

But the Toyota Tundra i-FORCE MAX setup pairs the 3.5-liter V6 engine with an electric motor to crank out 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. The Silverado has a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

The Tundra can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.6 seconds, while the Silverado reaches 60 mph in about 6.0 seconds.

3. The Silverado costs less

You can get started in the 2022 Chevy Silverado for about $34,600, while the 2022 Toyota Tundra starts at $35,950. But you’ll want to move up in trim levels to get the refreshed Silverado interior.

The Tundra Capstone takes the price up to about $73,530, and the TRD Pro off-roading trim is about $66,805. The Silverado High Country increases the cost to about $60,695, and the ZR2 off-roading trim is about $69,295.

So, the Silverado is almost cheaper all around, except for when it comes to the top=spec off-roading options.

But the Tundra has more tech and more modern features, such as a digital rearview mirror and a panoramic sunroof. There are plenty of Tundra benefits, but the Silverado makes an appealing case with its comfort, muscle, and potential savings.
