More automakers are bringing luxury features to SUVs, and the Hyundai Palisade has been stepping its game up. The 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy delivers on standard systems and materials that offer more bang for your buck, especially regarding driver assistance features. Check out what this sport utility vehicle offers and see where it excels.

How the 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy delivers luxury in the cabin

When MotorTrend had the chance to review the 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy, there were plenty of positives to report. While the base Palisade starts at $35,900 for 2023, the top-of-the-line Calligraphy trim starts at $49,850. To keep up with market demands, the Palisade Calligraphy is again improved.

Inside the cabin, the Hyundai SUV had high-quality materials and comfortable seats. It offers heated and ventilated seats in both rows, a suede headliner, and other touches that look more expensive than one might anticipate. New Ergo Motion seats were comfy and worked well, especially on longer trips.

A new 12.3-inch LED display worked well with Apple CarPlay, and the infotainment system was easy to use. There are USB ports throughout to keep everyone charged up, and the Wi-Fi hotspot is helpful for road trips. The screen also displays the 360-degree parking camera views, which come through loud and clear.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy worth it?

Most potential drivers of the 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy will spend time a lot of time doing everyday driving. The good news is that the Calligraphy excels at the daily drive. While the comfort aspect was already covered, the Palisade drives like a luxury SUV. It gets 291 hp and 262 lb-ft from the V6 and has a zero to 60 mph time of 6.9 seconds. That won’t win any races, but it is enough to power the Hyundai around town. Fuel economy sits at 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which beats some of the competition equipped with all-wheel drive.

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy delivered luxury during those everyday drives, offering a pretty relaxing ride. The cabin is quiet, and the engine noise is minimal. Going over bumps isn’t very noticeable, thanks to the upgraded suspension. The 2023 Palisade Calligraphy slowed down from 60 mph in only 118 feet. It was easy to stop and control while braking, which sometimes isn’t true with a three-row SUV.

A full-display rearview mirror makes parking and reversing a bit easier, displaying an image from a camera on the back of the SUV. Remote Smart Parking Assist and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist make managing tight spots easier. The HTRAC all-wheel drive system worked well and came standard on this trim.

Luxury vehicles of all types tend to come equipped with the latest and greatest safety systems. Hyundai added many driver assistance systems like Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Forward Collision-Avoidance. In addition, Lane Departure Warning, Crash Imminent Braking, and Dynamic Brake Support were verified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. All systems met the NHTSA’s performance criteria, and the SUV earned high scores on the frontal crash tests.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2023 Hyundai Palisade its Top Safety Pick Plus award for this year. That means it earned high marks on the crashworthiness tests and the new crash avoidance and mitigation tests.

When it comes down to it, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy delivers everywhere it needs to. If you are not interested in a luxury brand, the Palisade Calligraphy trim has plenty to offer. Hyundai is not resting on the positive reputation of the Palisade and has continued to improve the midsize SUV over the years.
