2011 Chevrolet Tahoe

With its roomy interior, powerful engine options, and safety features, the 2011 Tahoe is a practical family hauler. J.D. Power gives this model year a “great” reliability score of 82 out of 100. Owners appreciate the navigation system, the sound of the engine and exhaust, and the styling of the gauges and instruments.

However, consumers have also reported they don’t like the comfort level of the third-row seats, the lack of trunk and hatch space, and the leisurely acceleration.

The 2011 Chevy Tahoe’s mpg is decent for a large SUV: 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. Models can be found with four-wheel or rear-wheel drive. 

According to J.D. Power, the average price range for a used 2011 Tahoe is $10,114 to $16,323. 

2012 Chevy Tahoe 

Like its 2011 predecessor, the 2012 Chevy Tahoe delivers dependable performance, comfortable seating, and numerous features for families needing generous cargo space. Its J.D. Power reliability score is also a “great” 83.

As with the 2011 model, drivers enjoy the navigation system and the sound of the engine and exhaust in the 2012 Tahoe. It also boasts good stability in poor conditions. The comfort level of the third row is still not the best, nor is the amount of trunk space. The lack of ride smoothness left some owners unsatisfied as well. 

The performance specs are the same as the 2011 model. However, the used price range for the 2012 model is higher, from $10,991 to $19,614. 

2013 Chevy Tahoe 

Used Chevy Tahoe reliability continues with the 2013 model. This year boasts a comfortable ride, capable towing capacity, and a well-designed interior. Its J.D. Power reliability score — 81 — is slightly lower than the two previous years but is still considered “great.”

Owners say they enjoy the vehicle’s maneuverability, voice recognition feature, Bluetooth connectivity, and engine and exhaust sound. The comfort level of the third row and the amount of storage space remain low points. Rear visibility is also a drawback. 

The performance specs remain consistent with previous years, but because the 2013 Tahoe is newer, its used prices range from $12,317 to $21,728.

2014 Chevy Tahoe 

Finding a 2014 Chevy Tahoe for under $15,000 might be challenging, but it’s worth considering. This model year model boasts refined styling, enhanced fuel efficiency, and a reliable and enjoyable driving experience without compromising space and utility.

Its J.D. Power reliability score is 83/100. Drivers note maneuverability, transmission smoothness, and forward visibility as highlights. On the flip side, owners agree the 2014 model still lacks enough space in the third row and the cargo area behind that row. And its rear visibility remains a disadvantage.

The performance specs don’t change much, making the 2014 model another reliable Tahoe.  

However, the used price range for a 2013 model is $14,035 to $23,494, making it difficult to find a pristine example on a $15,000 budget.
