According to MotorTrend, the cheapest hybrid vehicle available is a truck. The Ford Maverick hybrid has a hybrid powertrain, a usable bed, and an accessible base price. It has an automatic transmission, an overall height of 68.7 inches, a compact spare tire, a tire pressure monitoring system, steel wheels, and a maximum trailering capacity of 2,000 pounds. The Ford Maverick XL FWD features include auto-off headlights, keyless entry, power steering, passenger capacity for five people, and smart device integration.

The truck has 191 hp at 5,600 rpm, 155 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm, and continuously variable transmission with overdrive. It has a fuel tank capacity of approximately 15 gallons and two types of suspension: strut suspension in the front and torsion beam suspension in the rear.

Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Blue

Per MotorTrend, one of the cheap new hybrid cars, the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Blue provides excellent fuel economy of 53 mpg in the city and 56 mpg on the highway for the base model. Drivers will love the spacious interior, as well as the ride and handling, which is perfectly balanced. The car uses the same powertrain as the Prius and also offers an impressive fuel economy at 53 mpg for city driving and 52 mpg for highway driving. There are complaints about the noisy interior and grabby brakes, but it remains a solid pick. You’ll find that the main controls are clearly labeled and easy to find, which means you don’t need to take your eyes off the road. You’ll love the integrated voice controls and the standard safety features.
