There’s a litany of reasons to want a Dodge Challenger R/T. However, the big Mopar car isn’t that quick compared to some of its comparably priced competitors. Check out four vehicles faster than the 5.7L Hemi V8-powered Dodge Challenger R/T, like the Chevrolet Camaro LT1 and the Subaru WRX STI.

Is the Chevrolet Camaro LT1 faster than a Dodge Challenger R/T?

The Chevrolet Camaro LT1 is much faster than the Dodge Challenger R/T. While the R/T packs a 5.7L Hemi V8, the Chevy Camaro LT1 uses a 6.2L mill. The result of that displacement is a healthy 455 horsepower, enough to propel the Camaro to 60 mph in around 4.0 seconds. That’s much quicker than the R/T’s 5.0-second sprint, according to iSeeCars

The Camaro LT1 starts at around $37,495, about $3,000 less than the slower, heavier Dodge Challenger R/T. Of course, the Camaro goes without the Mopar’s retro looks and charm.

Is the Mustang GT fast?

The latest Ford Mustang GTs are serious performance bargains. Depending on the model year, the most recent GTs produce 460 or 450 horsepower from a Coyote 5.0L V8. The Coyote-powered GT can hit 60 mph in the low 4-second range, and MotorTrend managed to get a 2018 model with a 10-speed automatic transmission to make the sprint in just 3.9 seconds. Moreover, the 2022 Ford Mustang GT starts at around $39,440, making it cheaper than the 375-horsepower Dodge.

Is the upcoming Nissan Z Sport faster than a Dodge Challenger R/T?

The Nissan Z Sport brings muscle car power to a retro-inspired sports car. Not only does the Z have classic styling akin to the Dodge Challenger R/T, but it’s also faster than the Mopar brute. The 400-horsepower Nissan Z can hit 60 mph in around 4.0 seconds with the Performance trim. However, the entry-level Z Sport packs the same twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 as the Performance, so it’ll also return snappy 0 to 60 mph sprints.

The Z Sport starts at roughly $41,015, just about the same starting point as the Dodge Challenger R/T. Not bad for 400 horsepower and sports car style.

How fast is a Subaru WRX STI?

The Subaru WRX STI checks many boxes, including being faster than a V8-powered Dodge Challenger R/T. The latest STI packs 310 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque from its turbocharged 2.5L four-cylinder engine. Better yet, the STI has standard all-wheel drive (AWD) for grippy performance. The result is a four-door sports sedan with traction to spare and a 4.6-second sprint to 60 mph.

Moreover, the WRX STI started at $38,170, which is cheaper than the rear-wheel drive (RWD) only Dodge Challenger R/T. The STI, like the Mustang GT, is a performance bargain. However, the Subaru also adds an element of practicality with AWD and four doors. Scroll down to the following article to read more about sports cars!
